have to replace the radiator on my '03 S-Type. Not finding good sources. What should I expect to pay and where is the best place to find such an expensive part? Thanks for any help you can provide.
I don't "think" I'm the customer Bob's talking about...but could as well be! Mine was several years ago rather than just recently, but yeah, you will wind up at the dealer. I had a slight leak at the tank seal and thought it would be an easy repair for the radiator shop that had replaced a broken plastic tank on my Excursion radiator. After spending the day with it, they called to say they were willing to keep searching, but thus far they had no solution. Never understood if the tank and/or seal simply not available (Excursion is common to the 7.3L F-series so literally millions of those out there and I guess service parts are plentiful and cheap - not so much with the S-Type) but anyway, I retrieved my now very clean, but still leaking radiator and showed up on Motorcarman's doorstep muttering, "Help!"
Same thing I found when searching, you can buy them all day long off the interweb for about $100 +/- but not a single one will have the integral transmission cooler. Just looking at the aftermarket service supply chain....you'd swear Jaguar must've produced about 90% of the 3.0L S-types with MANUAL Transmissions!!!
AW2, be prepared to "slightly tweak" some a/c lines to accomplish the R&R on it....(no clue whether you have the V-6 or the V-8 but I don't think there's much difference as to the radiator swap - unless you have the "R" then you are probably in for a real treat.

No Zane you were not the recent customer. I think the car was 2006 STR and the 'stacks' of coolers was a 'fun' job to remove to get to the engine radiator for replacement.
There are several 'coolers' for intercooler, A/C, etc. stacked in front of the engine radiator.
A few months back I was helping a friend buy a radiator for his S-type. It was hard to find a replacement radiator which had the transmission oil cooler part. We ended up going with OEM. This is what we bought:
Thanks for the response, yes I looked at RockAuto.com and they only have one with a transmission oil cooler and it was more that $500. The Jag dealer in my town is selling one for $530...!?
I did look at the vendors on the forum, but not with much luck. What I am finding is that most of the radiators are for manual transmission vehicles or if they fit my S-Type 3.0 the cost is quite high. Still looking around. I appreciate your help on this....
thanks for all the advice and input. I ended up getting a radiator from Autopartswarehouse.com for $108.00. It took 5 days to get to me. When I opened it.. it was the wrong part.. did not have the trans Cooler feature.. they made it right and we got the part. Jag Dealer estimate for the job $1600. Actual cost was $575.00 you guys rock
Has anyone had a good experience with an all aluminum radiator for the S-Type R?
Most of the 1, 2, or 3-core all-aluminum radiators available online are thicker than the original single core radiator. As many of you already know, real estate is quite limited between the supercharger pulley, overflow tank, radiator, and the front bumper assembly. Especially with the dual zone climate control valve mounted in such tight proximity to the radiator. None of the manufacturers I've contacted so far can 100% confirm fit inside an S-Type R model, only in the V6. So, I'm hoping someone here in the forum has found a brand that fits the supercharged R. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Side note:
I've ordered the Nissens radiator from RockAuto twice.
Unfortunately, each arrived with badly broken mounting brackets and other damage, on both occasions. RockAuto even refused to offer me a 3rd radiator as replacement, opting instead to give me refund straightaway "to avoid any further return shipping charges." The factory packaging from Nissens is woefully insufficient, leaving the radiator loose and free enough to slide around almost 3" side-to-side with very small, inadequate packing foam blocks to protect the delicate plastic brackets on the plastic tanks. The inside packing material was also badly damaged in both. Of course, FedEx didn't help by abusing the boxes in shipment. (They are the worst!) It's no surprise that neither radiator survived the trip. Anyway, I'm hoping that a more robust all-aluminum radiator can survive shipment to California. Those cheap $90 replacement radiators at the local auto parts stores just won't do.
A few of us here have the Nissens unit installed on our S-types. I got mine through CarQuest/Advance auto parts; it was delivered (without damage) very quickly to the local store here in my small town in Montana.
Don't forget the foam pieces that seal air passage around the radiator; they will be crumbly on your STR, at best. They will need to be fabricated or purchased from the dealer (and they are NOT cheap).
I replaced mine with a Nissens radiator purchased online too and it's good quality and not expensive. The transmission cooler is built into it, at least for the NA V8 engine. Good luck getting the fan and shroud out of there. If you follow instructions it isn't too horrible. If you don't have them get a set of large needle nose pliers, picks, and the tool with a cable that squeezes the hose clamps so they can be removed. Whatever you do, replace the water pump while you have everything wide open! Clean the area where the water pump goes on super clean.

I appreciate the attempts at replies. However, neither reply even addressed, much less answered, my question. Again, my question was, did anyone have any experience with the alternative high-performance ALL ALUMINIUM radiators available online? It seems the answer is "No." So, I decided to venture forth and buy one. I received it late last week. I was smart to consider all of the dimensions so that it will fit with the 4.2L SC V8 in my S-Type R. So far it looks great. And, unlike the Nissens, which came in horribly cheap and inadequate packaging from their factory, this one arrived in one piece! Excellent packaging! I will attempt to install it this week, complete with photos and possibly video. More to come... 🔧
