Default Stolen/ Replaced Throttle Pedal

Some miscreant stole the gas pedal from my daughters 2000 S Type 4.0. I bought another from a wrecking yard, (identical model/year/engine,) part# XR83-9F836-AB. Her car had been sitting awhile with no battery in it. Had a misfire when it was parked a couple months ago. Codes when it was parked were (1) P0307 cylinder 7 misfire, (2) P00420 Catalyst System below Efficiency and (3) P0065 Air Assisted Injector Control Range. After installing the new pedal I now only get a P1573 code and there is no pedal response at all. Dash now shows Engine Fail safe mode, and a traction control issue. Doing a hard reset did not help. Assuming the pedal I bought is good, how do I get the pedal working so I can move the car a few miles away so I can work on it? I can work on it here, but can't have it towed here. Thank you for taking the time to read this and any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the TP is faulty or the wiring is damaged (maybe when the Throttle Pedal was stolen/removed??).

I have posted the DTC guide for your car.

Check the wires from the pedal connector for damage or get ANOTHER TP.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll download the guide and check the wiring. The doner car was low mileage and pedal looks almost new, but will buy another if everything else fails. Thanks again

This is in no way helpful... but, who steals a gas pedal? A gas pedal?.. come on! That's like breaking into someone's house to steal a glass of ice water.

I seem to remember a TSB to replace the Throttle Pedal if a customer complained of 'squeaking-pedal' on the 2000MY X200. The offending parts were superseded and the left over inventory was discarded/thrown away. I replaced a few 'back-in-the-day'.

I think I found several pedal assys in the trash and I probably still have them SOMEWHERE in my 'pile-o-parts'. (New In Box).
These might be the OLD SQUEAKY ones or the updated replacement. I don't remember.
If I can find them you can have one for the cost of shipping, but don't complain if it SQUEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a lube repair or combining new and used parts??

Let me know.

That's a great offer I would cheerfully take you up on motorcarman, squeaky or not! I'm in Phoenix, just let me know to work it out. Thanks again.

have you "calibrated" it ?

I cant remember the exact sequence but it was something like..

ignition on, engine not running and you depress the and release the pedal several (5 ?) times very slowly.

I have not tried to calibrate it, not a procedure I've heard of. But will give it a shot on my next trip to the car. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the replies and help on this. Just wanted to say that I had the car towed to a spot I could work on it. It to took me a couple more inspections under-hood before I found some cut wires that were tucked down at the firewall. They were for the throttle position sensor that had been stolen also. Bought another and she runs! Thanks again guys.
