Thoughts on 2005 S Type R
Hello all. I'm a new member and excited to be here. I am entertaining the idea of purchasing a 2005 S Type R with 85k miles. Should I run away or towards this rare (from what I'm told) beast.
Car appears to be sound both inside and out with the exception of a radio issue...it doesn't work. Apparently it was replaced and needs codes???
Please feel free to share any thoughts with me....all are extremely welcome.
Thanks everyone!

+1 on service history.
Questions for the seller:
Questions for the seller:
- Has gearbox been serviced? The ZF 6HP26/28 should have fluid drained and new pan/filter installed every 60,000 miles or 5 years.
- Has coolant hose under the supercharger been changed? The return hose under the supercharger is not expensive, but there is a considerable amount of labour to replace it.
- Are there any stored/pending DTCs? Can the vehicle pass the local smog inspection is really the question.
- Have suspension bushes been replaced? The upper control arm ball joint can wear as can the the lower control arm bushes both front and rear.

I did not know that!
Is the radio completly dead? Are there any messages on the radio at all? If it needs a code it should say so, and then the bypass will work.
However if it is dead there is another problem.
The touch sensitive sat-nav screen was an option in the UK in STR's do you have this or not?
The video signal for the screen (three wire RGB NTSC format) comes from the sat-nav DVD unit in the trunk that is also linked to the head unit via the d2b fibre network.

Hi. I just bought a 1999 v8 S Type and removed the battery to charge not thinking about radio codes.
Can't get radio started. Wants a code. I've tried your method and didn't work. Mine is an earlier model than
you were commenting on so may;be that's why ,???. Mine doesn't have a A. MEM button so
tried the MEM memory button but didn't work. Any idea? It is an old school radio with a cassette player
and a 6 stacker in the glove box ( no cartridge). Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.
