Hi guys, I have a slight issue with my Stype and was wondering how will I know if my transmission fluid needs to be changed or is low? Thanks in advance

Mmmm, 02 should be 6 speed ZF trans, but it could be the last of the 5 speed units, dunno.

Either way the fluid cannot really be inspected without draining some off.

The kms on the car may negate that thought, as anywhere around 100K kms (you can do the miles thing), BOTH trans manufacturers are recommending a fluid and filter change.

The 5R55N is a FORD gearbox. Jaguar used ESSO 999 fluid.

Do a search for compatible fluid (MERCON V ????)

I have successfully used Mercon V in the 5R55N gearbox with no difficulty.

+1 on Mercon V - I also have used this fluid in my 5R55N gearbox after it's rebuild with no issues.
