Default weird running noise..

ok ive tested for vac leaks and found none, but i keep getting thise noise. it sounds like its in the actual intake, like air is trying to pass by something but will not allow it to. i get code p0505 and will not rev past 3k in park i was thinking fuel pulse damper maybe?

trying to convert video.. will upload when its done.

Did you look up the code in the codes PDF and/or JTIS? Both are free downloads and you're working blind without them.

Your engine has a rev limiter. It will only go to 3000 rpm when in park.

Bearing in mind the code, why suspect fuel pulse damper?

That code is pointing to the throttle body as the computer is saying it can't control the idle speed properly.

Do you notice if the idle is rough or the wrong speed?
Have you done anything to the throttle body? You might need to clean it to see if that helps?

Just remember that most throttle bodies will be marked "Do Not Clean". So use what is called "Throttle Body Safe cleaner". Don't scrub as that removes the protective coating. Best to just spray and flood the dirt and if you wipe do it gently.

PS: We need to know the car and engine to help.

I'll try it again in neutral, I took the Intake/tb off and cleaned them when I changed the plugs and upper gaskets. The reason I think it's the fuel pulse damper is because it has a hissing noise coming from the intake, already tested for vac leaks and it sounds like it's coming from the same area as the dampner (ers) it's a 2000 stype 3.0

I don't see why you think it would hiss and throw a different code.

update... finally got to drive it down the road more than a quarter mile. drove it to my parents which is about 8 miles one way. did good there. but on way back the check engine light would keep coming on saying misfire in cylinder 1/3 and sometimes 4. can old fuel cause this? (fuel sat in car for 2 years, but put restore fuel in it, but thinking thats causing misfires..) its more noticeable when its under load.

More likely bad coil(s). Or fuel pump/filter.

I would dump the old fuel and see what happens when you run new fuel clean thru the engine.

I have a wield tick/knock from time to time. Doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm. Temp outside doesn't matter either whether it's 15 degrees or 70 degrees. Sometimes it's there sometimes it purrs... Almost sounds like a lifter noise.... Is this common or a possibility that it may stick from time to time?
