Interestingly, there is a link for testing out the MOST BUS network too which would also benefit X150 owners.
This should also be added if it isn't already.

Thought I could add a comment here on what I suffered

(She) cat threw the abs light
10 miles later , cat went into transmission gear faults and basically wouldn't shift out of second gear . Felt incredibly a bit like the trans was toast clanks and squeals and all kinda ****. So I replaced the driver rear abs sensor with a rock auto part and boom , all was perfect again
transmission didn't like what the abs sensor wasn't saying and acted up for it

I fixed my ZF restricted mode on my 2005 s-type 3.0 by changing the plugs (you have to remove the intake manifold to do the right side), cleaning the throttle body, new battery, clearing the codes. Thanks to this forum I found out those were potential causes, and changing those things removed the restricted mode. My car is fixed and runs great! Very happy!

Just wanted to add that i got all kinds of gearbox faults due to a leak in the intake pipe (after air massflow meter). I thought i had a really bad transmission as it was behaving, but everything went away when i fixed the leak in the intake pipe. This was on an STR 2002.
Might be worth to take a look at that if your transmission is behaving strangly…

2000 3.0 SType. Trans has a slight whine when taking off up to about 10mph or less. It looks like a totally sealed unit without the ability to check fluid? Other than that works fine and shifts smoothl

The unit is a Ford 5R55N, and the fluid level must be checked with the gearbox at the correct temperature as outlined in the Workshop Manual.
I have a 2005 stype R 4.2, earlier this year I went to put it in drive, lifted the brake, reved the engine only to find I was in neutral, stupidly I pulled the lever back In to drive, resulting in spinning transmission, no drive and a burning clutch smell. Good news the transmission/box drive absolutely fine, bad news, upon engaging drive the car chugs forward on its breaks as the transmission makes 3 mechanical noises like you are turning a pepper grinder 3 times. After that no noises or problems for the entire journey unless you disengage drive, upon which you get the same noise, but fainter and the same again when you reengage drive.
Have taken it to three ZF specialist and apart from checking fluid level (which needed 0.5 litres due to a wheeping sum) No one has any ideas and wants about £400 to do a service to see if it fixes it, but they admit they are just guessing.
Anyone else experieexpd this?
Also apologies.if this is the wrong place for this post.

For 5 yrs now, I've had the same frustrating problem with my 2007 2.7 Diesel. when it's cold outside, and ONLY when it's cold (under 12defgrees Celsius). In the summer? it doesn't happen.
Here is essentially what happens, and how I've learned to live with it.
In the winter months here in Germany, when I start the car to go to work in the early morning under darkness, it starts fine. But after putting in it "Drive", and pulling out of my parking spot, when I reach about 3 or 4 hundred meters away, I see a little flicker in my headlights beam and the "Transmission Fault" message comes on, locking my in to 3rd gear. I've learned that if I drive it for a few kilometers until the engine temperature gauge needle hits the 1st notch (ie. like a quarter tank on the gas gauge), stop the car, turn off the engine, wait 30 seconds to a minute, and restart it, the transmission fault is gone and the ZF operates flawlessly when I drive away. For the life if me, I can't figure out why. Might there be a temperature sensor in the ZF that might be shorting? In the summer it never happens, and it never has gotten worse, always the same. I wish I could figure it out, and any ideas or suggestions would be most welcomed!

1. changed its fluid (& related parts)?
2. followed the various posts in this thread, starting at the first?
3. read the codes from the TCM?
There was a small leak 3 yrs ago (I learned that the transmission had a cracked pan as it was made of plastic or fiberglass?) so the local Jaguar dealership here (which I shall never go back to!) replaced it and the fluid and claimed all was good. But that winter, the same occurred, unchanged...
I keep thinking it's an electrical problem giving the flicker of the headlights at the instant the "Transmission Fault" appears on the dash.
