Question Rattle / clunking sound from convertible top F-Type?

Hi everyone. I just bought a certified 2014 V8 S convertible F Type. The car is a honey with only 2K miles. I love the car but I noticed that when the top is up, I hear some "clunking" sounds when I drive over rough road surfaces (especially with lateral movement when changing lanes if there are bumps in the road). Seems like the sound is coming from the passenger side rear in the mechanicals of the top or maybe the deck lid. I do not hear it at all when the top is down. I have an appointment with Jag service to have it looked at but I wondered if anyone else is hearing the same sounds. Is this "normal" for Jag convertible fit and finish?

I have the same car, but have not heard of what you speak.

Hey, got any pics of that beauty?

I don't have any such issue w/ my '14 convertible either.

However, it sounds like something that known issue early in the '14 MY, and all US '14s were convertibles.

See post #3, item 1 in the link below. The was a TSB issued on 14s for a rear clunking sound, which was coming from the rear suspension. It was an easy fix.

Thanks Foosh, this issue with the suspension may actually be what I'm hearing. Strange that I don't notice it at all with the top down, but I guess it's possible that wind and environmental noise just block it out. Will definitely ask the Jag tech about that TSB.

yes I have that sometimes, it seems to come and go a bit. Haven't figured out what it is, if you find out would love to hear what you find.

Default Full copies of TSBs on suspension clunking and cockpit radio vibrations

Hi everyone,

I was able to find the PDFs of TSB's for the "thumping / clunking" sound from the suspension and the vibrations / buzzing in the cockpit when listening to the radio. Attaching here in the hopes that it might save someone else some time as it took some looking to find these. Will post again after the work is complete at the dealership to confirm the problems are fixed.

Good luck!

Default Suspension and radio rattle update

So I had the suspension insulator sleeve TSB and door panel radio buzz / rattle mitigation done on my 2014 V8S (3k miles). Radio issue totally resolved. The Meridian system actually sounds amazing now that all the buzzing is gone.

BUT... Suspension solve = a lot better, but not totally resolved. I can now drive over small bumps without the metal on metal clunking sound, but bigger bumps still cause a thump that sounds like it's coming from the back passenger wheel well. I read another post on this forum from a guy who went through the same thing and demanded new struts, which apparently did the trick. I'm taking her back in next week for a test drive with the tech so he can hear it with me. Right now this issue is casting a pretty big pall over my enjoyment of the car and my perception of the overall quality. I'm really shocked that Jag would release a $100K car that has this poor fundamental design on a critical component like suspension. Fingers crossed I can get it fixed once and for all next week. Anybody else going through the same thing?
