Progress is always good! Must be a relief to have her running again!

Started cleaning up my lair of never finished projects AKA my garage. There were things in there from cars' I owned 10+ years ago lol. I also put my Maserati up for sale locally & have already had 2 serious inquiries within hours. My plan is to elevate my X308 to pampered indoor storage & continue to preserve it.

Nice & yes it's awesome therapy !

I served 2 tours w/ USMC in the early 90's, when I returned home I was quite a mess. I got back into martial arts & my rebound was instant. A big part of my gym's purpose & clientele was helping PTSD vets learn to channel the negative into a positive release w/ a controlled environment. My new partners wanted to go more into the commercial type set-up, you know the bring your kids in for karate/McDojo type deal, basically a day care center with a martial arts motif lol. I couldn't co-sign that. Plus truth be told it was super engulfing & with my son entering his prime transitional time/ teens I need to be ever present.

KC, do you have a close up of those door handle cups?
Seems it is not only chrome on the pulling part (like the VDP's), but if I see well, the inner cup is also chromed, right?

Yes it's inner & outer, I found a great deal linked below. They're quality chrome plating over ABS w/ ample 3M tape (almost too much IMO) & fast shipping. I'll snap a close pic after the latest storm passes lol.

While on a leisurely Sunday drive, I notice a scrubbing sound from the front when I turn the wheel sharp right. I investigate to see my under tray has sustained some trauma & is loose as well as the brake ducts in both front wheel wells. I'm fairly certain this didn't happen on my watch & am now pondering on confronting the paint shop whom did my recent work.

I mean the car was running perfect, then 6 weeks in the shop it returns to me w/ restricted performance/knock sensor & tray damage. It's nothing major but still it makes me ponder my dark side lol.

Guess I'll be purchasing some ramps & delving into body work this week.

Maserati pending pick-up & payment this afternoon.

The saga continues.

Edit :
I retract my statement about my paint shop. I do remember getting caught in a monsoon like down pour & having to splash through a flooded side street Saturday night. I mean the rain here has been Biblical lately lol. Good thing I have loads of down time these days.

Replaced knock sensor bank 1 & re-clipped my splash guard/under tray.

I need the clips that hold the brake ducts into place, anyone have a part #.

Upon doing the KS I found my coolant leak, the usual suspect = the t-stat housing. I will be installing the Welsh upgrade this week.

Had my X300 grill (the prettier grill if you ask me) sandblasted and have already prepped it for a fresh new coat of paint

Replaced the end links yet again, but with actual quality parts this time. I was going to change the actual bar bushings, but some idiot ordered "comfort bar" sizes when he bought them months back. I should smack that guy...

Today's Game Plan

Aluminum T-Stat housing & new cross-over pipe
Front Shocks & mounts

If my solder experienced associate shows up, the ABS light will be a thing of the past.

Pulled off the CVV on the XJR in preparation to replace to see if that will fix my filling issue. Based on most recent diagnosis this appears to be the culprit.

Well the shocks' bump stop/bellow bushings & boots were so bad I had to order them from a local O-Reilly's, so it will be tomorrow before everything's finished. Also neglected to order the short hose that connects the T-stat housing to the outlet pipe(when I ordered the housing weeks ago) so I purchased a correct sized radiator hose that will be cut down to size.

Next time I know to double check all supplies before embarking on disassembly lol.

Might take you a bit longer, but you are on the right path .
While you there, have a check on the waterpump, I remember you had a slow leak, and if a seal leaks, it might have left a trace.
Easier to trace with stuff removed.

I tracked the leak when I did the knock sensor, the housing has a small seam seep.

My XJR was due for it’s annual APK. The Dutch equivalent of the UK MOT.

On the lift at my local friendly garage for the APK inspection:

Passed without any problems. Did an annual service myself too. Nothing special. Filled her up with Castrol Edge 0W30 and a new Jaguar original filter.

Ready for the service job:

Draining the oil

One small worry, I took the car for a small spin to warm up the engine/oil prior to draining. Twice the car went into restricted mode! Both times reconnecting the battery solved the problem. I checked at home, but no codes were left.

havent seen this for a long time! Done about 100km since, and no problems, keeping those fingers crossed.

Jeroen

My final coolant drain bucket showed it was mixed w/ mostly orange in the system & green in the reserves. It will be flushed & filled w/ factory spec. orange today.
