Course I did, I had a route already picked. I didn't NEED Nav as I am quite familiar with everything near, I just plugged in where I already knew. Everything was normal except No Voice.
I've seen on some European nav systems that the voice guidance doesn't work if the wrong country is selected, even though you can find the address you want and select it as a destination. That's why I asked...
As I read this thread, it seems like for some:
1. there is an update and then the maps and voice work fine, although whether the British voice remains for everyone is unclear
2. no update but maps and voice work fine
3. a recent post (from Cee Jay) indicated upon update he lost ALL voices.
While I'd like to keep the British voice, an American would be ok, but the LACK of VOICE GUIDANCE is unacceptable.
Cee Jay, have you got your voice to work?
Anyone other than Cee Jay loose voice guidance?
Clearly, I don't want to purchase the disks if I might loose voice.
I haven't driven in the last few days, but next time (today? tomorrow?) I'll try everything I can think of to make it work. Probably even do a hard-reset, though that alone is unlikely to do anything.
I may also have inadvertently done something stupid, tho I don't know what.
Have you set your "HOME" location? When you do that, the system automatically resets to your state. When I installed Volvo Disk 2 with the entire USA map, my state came up as Washington, DC even though my GPS knew that was incorrect.
I need to go for a drive and make sure the voice works.
So, it's a beautiful day here and I took the XKR on her maiden voyage since installing the new Volvo nav disks. Set the destination to a favorite nearby restaurant for lunch, chose, the route and off I went. Nav showed the route on the touchscreen and, when turns were imminent, on the instrument panel display in between the tach and speedo. But no voice!
I went home and fiddled around with the settings for quite some time and gave up. With nothing left to try, I reset the nav to the factory defaults. I was surprised to see that it showed my state as Georgia! Once again, I set the same destination and was even more surprised when the voice guidance worked! And she speaks American English!
Don't ask me what else I did to get the voice guidance to work, because I don't remember. All I know is that I got it to work and I'm not touching any of the settings!
It can be done, but I don't know exactly how I did it.
I have no voice guidance too but I don't know if I had it before the disc change or not as i never used the nav because i had the wrong disc for my area. Its getting real cold here this week so i probably wont get to try fixing it till spring. Hopefully somebody will figure it out.

I'll reset mine to Factory Default, then again set Home State. Hopefully that will do it.
I'm past my Skiing days, too old and feeble to deal with the rigors of it now, plus I HATE snow and cold.
Not a fan of Park City either. Been there six times more than I cared to be, which was six times.
Skiing motivates me to stay in shape, is a great family sport (3 generations skiing together) and is one of the most fun and invigorating things I've ever done. It keeps me younger than my years.
Maybe it's time for you to become a snowbird (not the one next to Alta) and spend winters in Florida and enjoy driving your XKR with the top down. Almost heaven!
When my back wasn't a messed-up twisted wreck I DID enjoy skiing (but not near PC). And I'm already way ahead of you for summer homes, I have several already. But, right now I'm dictated to remain here for the foreseeable future (wife still works, retirement in two years).
Anyway, now it's 40+ degrees and the streets have been clear since early yesterday. Time to at least check all that Nav crap. MTF.
Well, I was finally able to get my Voice Guidance back, but I don't rightly know how I did it. I did reset to factory defaults, deleted then re-entered Home, then put in a destination ...... and nothing! I stopped and fiddled around some more, turning Voice on and off, changing it to English, then back to Weird English, reset again, then FINALLY it was on, but only US English! I lost my British Chick!
Regardless, it's not horrible, just a bit like my sister now. I can deal with it.
I was just thinking... these are Volvo disks, not Jaguar, so maybe the British babe has been replaced by a Swedish babe?
If you can select the Swedish language, maybe she'll pop-up on the nav screen occasionally, and give us 'vert owners some extra action when we hit the 'top down' button.

At any rate, it's not the Mrs., so that's something I guess.
