Picked her up from the shop with a new transmission mount. Hoped it would take care of the grinding sound and the clunks. I'm happy to report that the clunks are a thing of the past, but I'm still getting a grinding from the transmission tunnel in park, neutral, and throughout acceleration. I'm in over my head and might have to sell this summer.

If you have a V12 pre HE, there is a decent likelihood that the box is sitting against the rearmost of the two fixing brackets; the one that bolts up into the tunnel below the propshaft. It is easy to miss out some of the fixing bolts (1 in the diagram, and easy to misalign it, or have it too close to the gearbox. Worth a look, anyway.
Also it is quite easy to misalign the actual V shaped plate the mounting sits on, too.
Bolt the AC compressor to the V12. I was missing two screws. But I knew I had them. As they aren't available anymore, I had to find them. And where were they? In the old Harrison A6 cylinder head...
Why on earth did Jaguar think it would be a good idea to use M8s at the front and imperial what evers at the rear!? And then use some imperial screws to mount the half imperial front bracket... Darn Jaguar!
What did I do to my XJS today.....???
Straightened out the main bumper bar.
Took the bumper chrome trims to a local body shop to see if they can level them out again.
Fitted new indicator (but it looks too new, so will need to get another new one for the other side to match).
... oh, and fitted new gas struts in the boot (old ones tired).

Reason: missed a word out!
I'm using the stock manifolds, that have restrictors added to the front manifold, then I plan on machining the manifold outlets to take 25mm aluminium pipe. When I have them done I'll post pics in my engine build thread.
The old Michelin tyres, from 2012, were developing cracks all around the shoulder where the sidewall meets the tread. Not ideal. So I ordered some Continental ContiPremiumContact2 tyres (same as I got for the rear last year; there's sod-all choice for 225/60-R15 tyres over here. These, some Bridgestones with white lettering on the sidewall, Falkens, Nonamebrand, and that's about it), and trundled along to a local garage/tyre place.
Cracks along the old Michelin tyre. It's getting a bit past it.
Hope this was the right place to jack her up. I seem to remember some precautions, but a quick check as the garage guy was manoeuvring the jack into place only warned me not to jack under the radiator.
Nicely polished brake disc - at least on the flat surface. Rust elsewhere. Everything else looks pretty clean.
If Reliant got their hands on a Jaguar XJS it might look a bit like this.... The rear was chocked on the other side.
This is not specifically Jag related, hope that's ok, but I bought Jessie ( my 86 XJS coupe ) a friend her age to play with!
My girl has been looking for a pre-85 MB diesel for several years since hers got totaled by an inattentive driver. This one's a 1980 rust-free time capsule in Cactus Green. Parked in 2000 in the first owners garage. And he just uncovered it for us after 17 years. That's a 250K mile badge. Just getting broken in good.

I thought all facelifts had 16 inch tyres? Is the above a typo?
My 1991 is on lattice 15” but the spoked alloys are 16”
Thanks Brinny. I changed my original starfish wheels to the later 16 inch 5 spokes, because even 15 years ago 15 inch tyres with the right speed rating were getting both very expensive and rare. Now it is even worse.

Nope. Definitely 15 inches. They must have moved to 16 inches in 1993 or later. The facelift changes didn't all happen at once. For example, the door handles didn't change to the flap sort until about 1993.
It's not totally clear, but here's the old front tyre. 225/60-R15 on a 1992 facelift coupé.
