Today I brought the battery from my newly acquired XJS over to my parents house to put it on the charger. The battery looks to be in good shape, but I tested it with a volt meter as the previous owner was having to jump it off his other vehicle the other day when I bought it, and it was reading 1.4 millivolts lol So I'm trying to charge it up to get it back up to snuff before taking it to a local parts store for them to test it and see if the battery checks out to be good or bad. If it doesn't have any charge, it won't even turn their battery testing machine on. This should take care of that, and maybe will save me from having to buy a battery. That'd just be more money to put towards brake or suspension parts.
I put it on the charger at 10 amps for about 3 or so hours and got it up to 13.5 or so. I had it tested on the way home at the parts store and they said by then it was reading about 12.5 volts but showing half of its cranking amps weren't registering. It was worth a shot to charge it and see if I could get anything out of it, no biggie if I have to buy a new battery.
Save the frustration and buy a new battery. I spent years reserecting batteries with limited success, back when I couldn't always afford one. Now that I can afford one, if it fails me more then once, it's gone. Life is so much better when the cars starts the first time you turn the key!
I finally finished the welding on my inner wheelarch panels!
Just got to clean & paint all surface rust, spray cavity wax, buy all new front suspension bushes/balljoints/springs/shocks/nuts, reassemble front subframe & hubs, rebuild water pump, replace all hoses, flush cooling system, fit new front calipers, accumulator ball & thoroughly flush/bleed brakes, replace fuel hoses & flush old fuel out, sort the weeping seal on the fuel return to tank, & I may just about have a car I can at least drive out of the garage after nearly 2 years off the road.
Had to push her forwards today. Even though the handbrake has been engaged for more than 12 months now, it undid perfectly and didn't stick. She is so easy to push without that V12 in the front
Updated the stereo in the Jag. I didn't want to alter the original unit or mounting plate...so I welded some handmade brackets to the aftermarket single DIN cage so it mounts in the original fitting.
Finally had all front suspension mounts and bushings replaced with Superflex or OEM where poly was not available (as in Front subframe rear mounts) my god its so rigid and responsive. Upper bushings are OEM, as are the engine mounts and rear frame everything else front (and rear) now fitted with the same poly uprated parts used on the race cars.
Absolutely perfect.
Side note for anyone chasing steering wheel jutter or boat like handling. REPLACE YOUR SUB FRAME MOUNTS. These are overlooked too often.

Yes it make a huge difference, I did mine a few years ago now car has done about 20,000km and I have to replace the LH front lower wishbone bush again and the small radius arm bushes as they are all bad.
New radius arm bushes I have ordered poly and the lower wishbone OEM.

Nice install. Where did you mount the Bluetooth microphone?
Not exactly my XJ-S but my daily driver to accompany the beautiful XJ-S... Saw my new car at the dealership. It arrived on tuesday, expecting to pick it up on next thursday... Oh I am excited
This is what I did yesterday and the day before, but was too busy to get on here and post. I replaced the hood struts and they work great. I also installed an antenna grommet, all parts from XKs Unlimited. I don't really see how the grommet is supposed to seal properly in the hole. I would figure it was like most grommets where there is a large enough gap between the top and bottom, or both sides, that the metal panel fit snugly into the gap but it doesn't seem to want to do anything along those lines with this grommet. At least I got it set in place with the antenna through it and the grommet angled correctly.
Very nice Daim. I realize it's a warmed over Mazda Miata, but it looks like a fine update to the 124 Spiders, I had and Loved back many years ago. Nice! Hope it's as great as all the press says it is.

I'd say it is a more refined Miata. Softer springs, heavier steering, better shocks and a neat little turbo engine. Outside Fiat, inside Mazda. And I actually like the combination of both.
I got the horn to work! Only two days but hey, electrics are not my strong suit (slight understatement!) but with the help of the guys on here, sorted. Also, adjusted the idle speed and topped off the coolant after thermostat changes. Buoyed by my success, I had a go at getting the cassette player in the original 'Jaguar' head unit to work. It now does! It does take you back somewhat to be hunting around for cassettes and then playing them in the car... lacks a certain clarity
fixing the fuel system. iv got the fuel system re-plumed to put the fuel pump in a much more ideal location and fuel lines re-routed power run to the new location and a redline 105gph fuel pump ordered
new airfilter assembly ordered to go with the next item
