My 94 Xjs needs a top. I've shown top automat which wants $1800 and I spoke to another shop that wants $1250 . Any recommendations on shops for s convertible top for the car.

Unfortunately automat is the only one I know of right now. I generally do top installs myself...Just because I like to do these things myself. I have never done one on my jaguar so I'm unsure if its a big hassle. In general they on any car. Top kits seem to go no more than $500 or so for the better ones so the rest is labor. Automat is known for being on the high side. Id expect 1000 to 1200 complete to get it done. I'll ask around for you though

Hi Gregg, I didn't have them do the top, I am going to have to make a decision soon, one thing I didn't like I wanted an oem top and he kept pushing me to something different.

 

Surprised to hear that...but I hear ya...I want what I want.

update, after spending too much time "interviewing" many local shops I dropped the car off today at A & B Upholstery in Baldwin. I am getting an oem fabric top and new headliner installed for less then some places were quoting for the top alone and was recommended there by three separate body shops and mechanics.
