The Upper Strut Mounts for 2000 XK8 are deteriorated..are there rebuild kits/ bushings that can be used without buying new complete units ? Where is the least expensive parts available for this repair other than the dealer ?
Thanks !! J

Compare the price of the dealer's with Motorcars Ltd, when the upper mounts were backordered for over 6 months, they fabricated their own and sold a ton.
Other than that...not sure where.

Just a thought here but if i could find the thickness of the rubber in the upper shock mounts I could probably find a place to rebuild the plates using aluminum stock and the ride wouldn't be any worse than what I'm currently living with and it would cost substantially less while never wearing out..
Or better yet I bet I could some place to rebuild it with poly instead of rubber bushing material.
So on that note does anyone know what the thickness is?
Meh...maybe I'll stick a chunk of old tire in there so i can at least feel the difference between metal on metal and some rubber in there....

check coventrywest.com in lithonia ga. strut mounts cost about 180 each side and the bushings to rebuild cost 155 each side
