Default blinking check engine light

hello I bought a 2002 Jaguar Xtype. it drove good home the after a few days i got a blinking check engine light with the codes P0300, p0301, p0303, p0305, p1313/p1316. I changed the IMT o-rings for both valves and it is still acting up with these codes.

If the chech engine light is blinking, that is saying that conditions are such that further operation of the engine may cause component damage. Based on the codes that you are getting, i would be looking at either the coils or the plugs. ghat would be the most likely. Granted, is your pcv hose smooth or ribbed (if you look at it and are not sure, then it is smooth). If it is smooth, check the under side for a split in the hose. After that, check the brake booster line for cracks in the check valve (bulge in the center if the line).

That should cover most of the likely causes.

Flashing MIL = catalyst damage occurring at that time.

Try not to drive it at all until fixed.

Adding to what Thermo said, while checking the plugs look for oil. If you find any then you need to replace the valve cover gaskets.

What do fuel trims show? Any signs of an air leak?

i checked the fuel trim. At idel the Short Term on Banks 1 and 2 is at 0 the Long Term for Banks 1 and 2 is at -0.8. When driving i saw it at Short Term Bank 1 at -25.0 and Long Term at 0. Short Term Bank 2 at 23.4 and Long Term at 0.

Those are weird (hugely reducing fuel bank 1 but adding on bank 2).

Doesn't appear to be an air leak. Maybe bad cat conv. Sometimes you can tell by checking the temperature down the cats (IR gun/etc).

See who else has ideas.

Oh - if you get the codes again the freeze frame data might give clues.

I checked the temps of the cats, the one in the front was about 202F and the one by the firewall was about 100F. These are the freeze frame data for P0300.

With that data, it looks like an air leak, that bank 2 fuel trim is way too high and the intake manifold absolute pressure should be about 9-13inHg. I had a similar problem recently and it was the PCV breather hose, even though it looked ok. Have you got the modified version fitted to yours?

Or if the cats are very different it may be damaged.
