Default Check engine light, P0037

My 2002 X-Type recently lit up the check engine light. I put my OBDII tester on and found the following codes set:

P0037
P1111

The car runs great and there doesn't seem to be any issues other than that little yellow light of doom. Looking for some guidance. I don't find a list of X-Type P-codes but searching it seems like the P0037 is an O2 sensor? What about the P1111?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to sell and don't want to pass along a serious problem to the next owner.

P1111 means the OBD monitors (google for meaning) have run OK at some point in the past (so it can be ignored).

All codes are in JTIS, a free download. Codes PDF may also be on Gus's site JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

Thanks for the start JagV8.

Is there anyway to tell the location of the affected O2 sensor? It looks like there are a few to pick from.

Alternatively, a testing procedure??

Doesn't the codes PDF say? It normally does. JTIS will.

P0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2 is between the engine and the firewall. I would check the wire first. It's PITA to get to.

Back in town...thanks for the help. I've done the diagnostics and have two sensors on order. Hopefully they'll be here and the job done before the weekend.

Okay, got the new sensor installed and reset the code. Check engine went out, all's well. About five miles of travel and the code (P0037) reappeared with the check engine light. Reset again and after about 20 miles it threw the code again. Hmmm. I'm confident that the sensor is correct and correctly installed. Any ideas why this would continue to set this code?

The wiring and connector are good. I'm wondering if it takes some time for the ECU to "adapt" to the new sensor...? In other words, the ECU had adjusted the car to a faulty O2 sensor. Now that the new sensor is installed will it take a few miles to adapt to the new one?

Within seconds, especially after a code clear. You might try a hard reset (disconnect battery & touch leads together). Otherwise it's a bad (despite new) sensor, wiring or whatever.

Disconnect battery and touch leads together? Is that an official Jaguar method?!?!

Nope, historical X Type owners experiences. By touch the positive and negative battery cables to each other once removed from the battery, it causes an instant discharge of any residual current. You can also just remove them and wait a couple of hours, but touching them is instant.
