Default Collision/crash sensor replacement?

Good morning everyone!

I've tried to find some info on it on my own but with no luck, hopefully somebody will be able to help me!

My x-type keeps on enabling immobiliser randomly, since it had the accident. Car simply will cut of the fuel/electricity the moment you try to turn it on. Today it happened again but resetting the fuel cut off/inertia switch has helped and the car launched once turned on again.

My mechanic told me it is probably caused by faulty/used crash sensors which would need to be replaced. I've tried to find part numbers/their location but unfortunately to no avail. I only got to find out that inertia switch no. is C2S44918 but I guess this is just the switch and not the sensor itself.

Could anyone please help me out and advise where I could find some information about the sensors? PS. I got the catalogue from this forum already

Thank you in advance,
Atramentous

Is this the one - item 8?

Front crash sensor for the Supplementary Airbag Restraint System. Located underneath the bonnet catch panel.

Could be 6 I think as well. Side, rear, front crash? Not listed.

The fuel cutoff switch is a self-contained unit with a wetted mercury contact internally. An impact anywhere on the car (or a hard enough pothole strike!) will slosh the mercury around inside of the switch which causes a brief short internally...then it just works like a fuse.

Once it is electrically open, you need to depress the switch to send the mercury back into it's place and reset the contacts.

If you've reset the switch more thah once or twice, the mercury doesn't all get removed from the sensor area, and it will be more likely to trip again.

That causes a vicious circle of trip and reset...

It is time to replace the switch.

C2S44918 is the part number

Hello All!

Thank you for all the responses, knowledge this forum's users have never fails to amaze

The Jag was hit @ the front right side, last year (pls see the pic attached). Ever since, the immo would come up randomly at least expected moments - sometimes it would trigger once every two months, sometimes twice a month etc - there wasn't any behavioral pattern, just pure randomness. The funny thing is that it was always enough to connect the computer and erase all fault codes for this issue to be fixed, but you know, it is sometimes hard to find someone with one available at a given moment. Last week it was the first time that the inertia switch has fixed the issue.

We suspect either the front sensor or the inertia switch, would you say it is worth replacing them both? Does not look like an expensive part to replace.

Thank you in advance!

Default Crash sensor

I have a few used good ones not from smashed cars. I would be happy to send to you. I part out jags. My guess its the switch more then the sensor. But it could be the wiring from the sensor that my have frayed from the crash. Something you may want to look into. Pm me with any questions.
Thanks,
The Dr

Default Need help, drivers side seat belt won't unlock.

Unable to lock drivers seat belt, bought it with damage to front bumper where they pulled to close to a parking curb. Had it out back on and a few days later the belt won't lock. I think they hit the sensor when they worked on the bumper. Does this sound right ?

The most likely problem is a mechanical one with the buckle itself. I would first try spraying WD-40 or similar lubricant and exercise the release button a few times to see if it releases the mechanical latch in the buckle. If that fails and the other seat belt buckles work then you will need to replace the buckle assembly. You can PM DrDome in the previous post and he can provide a good used one to match.
Changing it is pretty straight forward, unbolt the seat, remove the buckle mounting fastener and the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse, but be sure to match the wiring routing so that it doesn't get snagged when the seat is moved to adjust it.
