Default Do Ford Coils Fit?

Just bought ignition coils and they came in a Jag box but the part inside is made by Ford Motor Co. Box says C2S 42673 Part says 6R83-12A366-BA N743V. Doesnt look like what in my 3.0 but Jag claims its correct and said mine was likely aftermarket. I doubt it but I called another dealer to confirm.

It does look the same this site also claims they are interchangeable Standard Motors

Are you saying it doesn't look like your existing coils?

It doesnt look the same. If you go to ebay and look at used xtype coils you will see the difference. Looks different but I beleive it will fit. Will try it on a front cylinder before pulling the intake for the rears. I have a cylinder 5 misfire so will replace three (3) rear coils while the intake is off. Needs a tune up anyway.

By the way the upper intake seals are Felpro MS96494. MS96496 is for the Lincoln. I called Felpro and the tech could not confirm the upper intake seals were the same. MS96496 contains some EGR gaskets in addition to the intake seals. He looked at the breakdown of MS96496 and couldnt confirm it contained the same seal although he admitted it looked the same.

Give me the name of the folder in User CP because when I signed up I put in 2003 xtype. I have looked at all the folders and dont see where it goes. Also my post ended up in a non xtype forum. Is there a way to make it available to the xtype forum viewers?

Yes. The job is done and all parts worked well. Was probably the easiest intake Ive done. Miss is fixed and car is running strong. I do have to clear the code though.

It should clear itself after a few cycles.
Glad to hear that it went well.

One other thing. The origonal sensors are Denso 1X43-12029-AB, 099700-0620. I think OEM was Denso. OEM replacement is Ford in a Jaguar box. Actually looks like its made by Standard.

Default Ignition Coil issues

Just to add a little to this problem. i've just changed the plugs on my 2.0 03 X-Type @73K, getting the replacements from jaguar.

I found that the new plugs are different, however Jaguar assured me that they are correct. So I fitted them (in Bank 2 only) and guess what, lots of miss-fires, took them out and checked the coils. The ignition coils fitted to my car are The Denso 1X43-12029-AB099700-0620 the plugs that I removed are AWSF22FS. Jaguar sold me TR6AP13E Plugs. BE WARNED THESE DO NOT GO TOGETHER with the Denso -0620 Coils. The ceramic on the NGK plugs is of a smaller diameter to the AWS plug and will not suit the Denso -0620 coils. jaguar says 'coils and plugs must be after market replacement' @ 74K I don't believe this, and all servicing has been done at Jaguar until I got the car. It looks like Ford fitted whatever was available at the time of manufacture, the coils and plugs originally fitted would suit an S-Type. So I'm changing the coil packs (could have just gone for the other plugs but the temperature rating is also different.)

I think my xtype had autolite plugs. Went to NAPA and they crossed them over to Motorcraft iridiums - no problems.

So how much money did you save over going with the 'Jaguar' gaskets? Er, seals.

Its huge. $18ea at Jaguar and $12 for (6) at Autozone. To be honest I think Autozone pricing is wrong and instead of $12ea they are selling the box of 6. I contacted Felpro for the part number and it is not cross over from a Lincoln. Felpro MS96494 is for the Jag xtype. NAPA and Advance didnt have it. Also I looked at the Jag seal when I was at the dealer. Obviously its the green color that makes them $18 vs the Felpro are Blue. LOL
