Default Double Din Stereo

Folks, I own a 2002 Jaguar X-type 2.5 (non-premium sound)

I have a pioneer unit with measurements. 4" height, 7 1/4 Depth and 7 wide. I tried to install it today and the unit sticks out. I know that a lot of members installed a unit with the same measurements and had no problems with sticking it in. Please help.

I just got my 2005 X Type 2 days ago and want to add a double din head unit as well as some upgraded speakers and subs. Just out of curiosity, where did you get the adapters and dash kit from?

I got it from ebay (liquidice-2008). Really good guy (Mike). Ask for the connects2 fascia and the pc5-100 fakra aerial adaptor and pc2-81-4 ISO Lead. I Paid $35.00 plus shipping for all 3 of them.

Dennis Black did whole start to finish install, I noticed his deck and the others that were mentioned in his thread are all 6.5 inches in depth.

You know the problem, the AC has some ducting right behind there and that limits the depth of the HU you can use.

Sidewalk you're correct. The AC duct is blocking the unit from sitting flush.

I just double checked and the unit Dennis put in is 7 1/4 depth. I think he has a newer X compared to mine which is an 02. I read that 04 and newer have no problems installing a standard double din.

You're right 7.25". I don't think there is a work around either, is there a way to mount it almost flush and then tweak the facia a bit to kind of spread it out a bit.

I know you don't want to mess with that AC ducting back there.

I think the only way is to mount the stereo at an angle where the top part of the deck goes below the air duct. This will make the bottom stick out about 1/2 inch or so. I love my deck too much to give up on it. I can live with this considering all the features.

Jagitch,

Long, long time since I posted. You may find this old link interesting. Installation of my Pioneer Avic F90BT... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=32701

More pics of my install/info can be found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/25038437@N06/page10/ ...you will have to pick through my pics.

The double D..Pioneers do stick out slightly..but if you put some thought to it there are options that make the unit fit and look decent.

Personaly I love the Pioneer Avic...and all the mods you can do to them...visit Avic411.com

Since my install a year ago it is still performing perfect...we also have an identical unit on my wifes Rav4..love the hands free bluetooth.

Good luck

Fixit4u2, I've searched for your pics all over coz i remember the clean install.

I finally managed to put it in at an angle. It doesnt look as clean as yours but it does the job, i need to do something to cover up the gap between the fascia and the unit. Thanks again for the link/pics
