Well after a few months of waiting after buying my extended warranty. I think i am going to get my compressor replaced finally. I am dropping off the car tonight in Baltimore at a mechanic that i got recommended by a friend of mine. But how much do you guys think this job will cost? Is it an easy job to replace the compressor? The reason i am asking this is because if they Warranty company declines my claim, which i hope they don't, i rather not fork over my left arm to fix it. I see compressors on Ebay for a little under 200 dollars. So that sounds good. Also has anyone debadged there jaguar? Can i see some pics? How exactly did you go about it? I want to debadge mine, might make the car seem more slick? Your ideas?

As for debadging, na, love that big X ....would never disgrace it by removing it.

 

gupdah, are you talking about removing all the chrome lettering on the back? If so, take a look at the below pic. I removed all the chrome lettering off of the back of my car. But, also notice that the chrome piece above the license plate has been painted and the chrome pieces on the corners are now off and getting painted as we speak. I think leaving just the "JAGUAR" in chrome on the rear will make it stand out and be quite trick once done. As for the Jag face on the grille surround, that is going to be a lot more work. There are holes in the grille surround. So, that will involve filling the holes, converting over to a painted grille surround, etc. If you need more info, let me know. I have been ripping into my Jag to update a few things. Coming soon is 20% tint all the way around. With what I am doing, should really make the car stand out. In a slight shadow, the car is going to turn almost all black yet get it out into the sun and the green will shine.

if you MUST debadge the car, heat gun and fishing line are the 2 tools you will need to have as little impact on the paint as possible. A little bug and tar or kerosene will help to clean up the leftover residue.

I wouldn't take the growler off the grill.

After seeing a few cars debadged. it seemed pretty nice, but the jaguar might not look as nice as other cars i am seeing. I probably wont mess with it anytime soon, but if i decide to, I will post up picks of how it went lol.

The car is in the shop at the moment, not sure what the mechanic has done or if he has even called the warranty folk.

 

KAZSAM, wait until you see it after my current project is done. Should finish the look. Just need some time to get my airbrush out and get the paint laid. Whooo. HOpefully by the end of the weekend. Granted, I broke one of my backup sensors, so, now I need to get a new one of those. Called the dealership and they want $117. Hoping to find it a bit cheaper. It is one of the center ones (yes, there is a difference between the center ones, the outer left and outer right).

gupdah, when I removed mine, I used a long razor blade and used that to cut through the double sided foam. Just have to be careful not to let the razor come in contact with the paint. Not difficult, but you have to be cautious. From there I used a mix of my finger and paint thinner to remove all the left over foam/adhesive.

 

Try using dental floss and kind of saw the lettering off. Once its off and you ahve glue residue use a product called goo be gone or goo gone. Its not harsh and will not harm the paint.

Also if you are looking to remove the leaper from your hood, there is a fellow member here who had there leaper stolen, maybe you two can work something out?

 

mr.type i am not trying to remove the leaper from my hood, but if it ever gets stolen, i think i will replace it with a growler.

 

bug tar remover works also for removing the remaining tape...

 

gupdah, if you are curious what the car looks like with a color matched rear end, this should give you an idea. Personally, if you are leaving the chrome corners on, then the chrome lettering would look better. But, this gives you an idea of what it will look like with the monochrome look that I am going after.

Sorry that I am missing pieces off of the car, but with the weather and my work hours, can't seem to get time to get the pieces painted.

I debadged my 02 X yesterday. I just let it sit in the sun for an hour or so, then I just started pulling at the letters and got underneath them with my finger nails. They came right off. I used Goo Be Gone, water, and my driver's lic to scrape off the glue pads. I like the look. Of course you gotta be careful not to scratch your baby! I rearranged the letters below. If I lived in Texas I would reapply them like this. Everyone would think I have a 5.2 liter engine! LOL

Debadging is always a good thing.

It's not like people don't know what these cars are, they are nothing to be super-proud of from a prestige/cost POV and you can't debadge the boot plinth piece without filling and repainting anyway (or I would have done that ).

Granted this is a religious preference thing, so only some will agree.
