Default Help-new tank leaking again...maybe?

Hello guys,

Does anyone know if the coolant tanks have a overflow /weep hole? I noticed mine was at the "min"mark and I topped it of, maybe a tad too much. In any case, it's now weeping from a hole underneath the tank, like in the bottom part. I want to know if this is a overflow design before I go throw a fit with the guy who sold me the part. Thanks

Are you sure its not escaping from the cap or one of the pipe connections and trickling down to the lowest point?

Stand by the driver's wheel, remove the pressure cap to the coolant reservoir and look inside the black cylinder that the cap screws into. In the 12 o'clock position, nearest the engine, you'll see a small weep hole where coolant drains after blowing past the o-ring in the pressure cap. This weep hole drains thru a port in reservoir side closest to the engine.

Hope it not the hoses.

I know its hard to tell , but right where my finger is pointing, there's a recessed area that it's driping from.

Spike: Leaked coolant on the outside of the reservoir could be caused by:

1) An overheated engine,
2) Spillage after recently topping off the coolant,
3) Stress cracks in the tank nipples or tank bottom,
4) A faulty pressure cap releasing coolant prematurely at low pressure,
5) Air trapped in the engine block or heater core that wasn't "burped" after refilling a very low coolant level. When heated, the trapped air can cause the coolant system to overpressure.

To detect where a coolant reservoir is leaking, wipe the reservoir clean & dry, then run the engine to normal operating temperature to pressurize the coolant system. Carefully touch the hot reservoir with a dry paper towel, including the pressure relief port, nipples and tank bottom, each time checking the towel for dampness. Of course, don't open the pressure cap while the coolant is hot, since hot water can immediately flash to steam when the pressure is released.
