Hi i have an 02 jaguar x type 3.0 and the drivers side seat seams to be loose.
I check the bolts the seat attached to and the bolts for the rails of the seats and they seem to be tight .
Do anyone else no where to tighten?

damn, i forgot about this issue with the 02-03's for that other post... there is a TSB for this. I think you need to get the bracket replaced.

 

I got the same problem with BOTH of my front seats! How much do new brackets run? It's not that major of a thing to me, but if it's relatively cheap I would definitely look into it.

 

yeah its not a major thing to me either i just dont want it to get looser over time and fall off

A fix for the seat rocking problem in 2002 X-types is addressed TSB XT501-03 amended 01/04. This fix is apparently only applicable to X-types from S/N C00001 to C75251.

The TSB describes a spring that is inserted between two pipes in the seat frame as well as a set of wedges that are installed under the frame rails. The wedges are only installed if the spring does not cure all of the rocking.

The fix looks rather simple, but like everything Jaguar, the parts are stupid-expensive....something like $100 per seat. One of the Jag techs on this forum quoted me the same price.

My driver seat started squeeking latley... does anyone knwo how to cure this? I didnt check if there was any play in the seat... its just when I drive if my body moves around i hear the seat squeek. It all started after certain activities took place in the front seat with a certain gymnast of a girlfriend...

 

Mr. X type - are you sure it is not the center armrest squeaking? It is a more likely culprit, and not to in any way underestimate the "flexiness" of your girlfriend, it would be quite possible the armrest would have been stressed during just such an activity.

 

Yes I am sure its not the arm rest. Though the arm rest feels very cheaply made it is the seat. I think maybe a weld inside the frame or something may have broken.
