Default Mystery part on my workbench

Today as I moved something on my work surface in the garage this part rolled off and onto the floor. I picked it up and inspected it. The part looks totally new and in pristine condition. I have no idea where it came from, why I have it, or what it does. It’s described as alarm receiver for XType when I looked up part number. Only thing I can think is it might have been included in box by mistake in other parts I might have ordered recently on eBay and it fell out as I picked up boxes to tidy up today. Where is this installed in our XTypes?

The Ford number equates to Sun Load sensor or Solar sensor for the climate control system.

That is the daylight sensor that sits in the center of the dash top at the edge of the windshield for your automatic headlights.

My sensor is in the back of the rearview mirror for automatic lights.

You have a self-dimming mirror. If not, it is in the front center outer edge of the dash.

It was a big issue for the states that put registration or inspection stickers in the lower center of the windshield, because they were right above the sensor.
