Sleek, do you what to know how to do it and not use an air brush or anything else. You mean you are after something like:
But with the lettering in gray?
It is easy. What you would end up doing is getting yourself a Sport Edition piece that goes above the license plate. Paint the area around the lettering the shade of gray that you want the lettering to be. Let the paint dry really good. Now, using some Elmer's White Glue, fill in only the lettering. Use a toothpick to make a nice straight line around the letters and keep adding glue to get the glue rising slightly above the outside flat surface of the trim. Fill all the letters and let the glue dry (may need to do this over a few hours as you need to let each letter dry fairly level, I want to say I did mine in 2 stages, the "JAG" and then "UAR"). Once the glue is dry, paint the whole thing to match the body of the car. With the paint still wet, use a small pick or other sharp utensil and dig into the glue a little bit. Pry the glue out of the lettering. Once the second color is dry, coat with a clear and you are done.

Nice pic Thermo. I too like the way you have the chrome letters against the painted molding. I was surprised to find that JAG doesn't make them like that. If I were going to rework mine the way you did, I'd want to get rid of the trunk button in the middle and relocate it underneath the molding, so it is hidden and the letters JAGUAR are uninterrupted across the molding. JAG designers should have done this in the first place.
It's kind of a tricky project to hide the button like I described but it would look better.

Hey. I just found one on Ebay. This one is pure chrome but it doesn't have the button showing, it's hidden! It cost $45. I had no idea this was available I'll have to fill the JAG letters with Elmer's glue and then peel it out after I paint the thing to match my car, but that's cool. I use chrome sparingly on the JAG.
