Default Pressure plate and flywheel

Help I bought a clutch kit from luk and a dual mass flywheel for 2002 xtype jaguar 2.5l v6 AWD manual transmission. The mechanic says the kit cant work as a gap is left about an inch between the flywheel and pressure plate even after the screws are inserted,a previous purchase from rock auto gave the same problem. Help

I thought dual mass flywheels were for diesels?

Look at SNG Barrett (a forum sponsor) for the parts. Also try Summit Racing.

Are you saying you cannot close that gap by tightening the bolts? Don't forget you need to overcome the clutch spring pressure while tightening, which is considerable. If the housing sat right down on the flywheel, without pushing the clutch fingers, it would not work. Remember it is engaged when assembled, and it is only the internal spring pressure that drives the car.

Default Clutch problems

My mechanic said that the system is too engaged when the bolts are tightened he says a space should be between the pressure plate forks and the clutch spring, when the screws are tightened the pressure plate forks is actually touching the clutch spring

Are you sure the diaphragm spring is installed correctly? It should bow outward from outer edges to the center (center being the greater distance). So when the t/b presses on the interior forks, it raises the plate from the outer edges. Or is the clutch in backwards? Is the clutch being positioned using the correct pilot tool to seat it properly? The smaller raised portion goes towards the forthcoming pressure plate. And lastly is the pressure plate being put on correctly (think rotation).

The assembly in my experience, is straight forward. Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate.
