Default Cracked windshield

So I've got a crack in my windshield that just started the other day. It'a about 16" long at this point, and slowly growing. Just curious if anyone else has had to replace their XE's windshield yet, and if so how much approx did it cost you total (in the US)?

Of course I've got the stupid heated glass, so I assume that will cost more than a typical windshield.

Thanks!

I took a rock on the passenger-side edge, which spread maybe 6" in. In MA, there's no glass deductible, so it was replaced, 'no charge'. Not sure if Philips Glass is local, but they did a great job and billed my insurance. No hassle.

They used an OEM windshield which they got from a dealer. No heat on mine, but it has the IR-coating.

Like @DJS said most drivers in US don't pay for broken windshields.

I'd assume the heated windshield is another $300-500 considering how much the option is (which I love on any car offered). My guess the windshield is $1200ish? You could call a US Jaguar dealer parts department and ask.

Thanks guys. I've got Progressive, and I don't think it will be covered completely. I've got a $500 deductible, and it looks like with Progressive you actually have to have a separate "glass" option for it to be completely covered. So I guess either way it's gonna cost me $500 out of pocket. Flo can kiss my ***.

We have the option of having a deductible with windshields here too, but I don't know anyone who has their policy set that way. The windshield 0 deductible costs very little so everyone opts for that one.

I believe my non-heated IR windshield was in the $500 range.

So then there is no aftermarket...this windshield has to come directly from the dealer? But the dealer isn't necessarily who installs it? So how does that work, does like Safelite or whoever buy the windshield from the dealer?

Lots of dealers don't install windshields anymore, they let the windshield specialists do it.

Safelite collects the windshield and installs like you see on TV ads. There may not just be enough market for the aftermarket XE windshields just yet. They must order it from the closest dealer to the installer is what makes sense. Insurance pays them...

I just called Progressive, they don't offer the additional windshield policy in my state. It's covered under my comprehensive, but that's a $500 deductible. Why the hell they don't have windshield coverage in my state is beyond me but that sucks.

Possibly related to state insurance regulations - I think we have to have a zero-deductible option.

Actually just had my XE windshield replaced by SafeLite which was Progressive's preferred supplier...they did use an aftermarket windshield made by Fuyao. I wasn't familiar with the brand but you can look them up at Advanced American Auto Glass | Fuyao Glass America. Looks about the same as the original to me...it's just not rained yet to test the rain sensor on the replacement windshield. The invoice came to around $675 but I'd added the windshield coverage to my policy so I don't have to pay that.

You can go direct to SafeLite's website and look up their price to replace it. When I checked it looked like they had all the XE options such as heated and heads-up display one.
