Default 2009 XF has power then I push "Start" all power gone

So I get in my '09 XF yesterday to move it out of the garage, I sit down all things are normal, I push the brake then the "start" button and everything goes black and silent. NO power whats so ever. Surely the battery could not have just all the sudden died. Any one else have this problem and what is the cause. Now I have to try to get into he trunk and put a charger on the battery or jump it. But that does not answer my question, what is the root problem. I would hate to get out somewhere and this happen to me. HELP!!

Check the battery out like your planning. It may be just as simple as that.

Is the battery original?
I have had factory batteries last as long as 10 years so it might just be old.

Got into the trunk and the negative connection was loose. Easy fix. It's never an easy fix with Jaguar. BUT now the dash says apply the foot and hand brake, as a warning code...

Just reset the EPB. Lightly press the brake pedal & apply the park brake. Done. Test your park brake a few times to ensure it's set adequately & working OK.
