Default 3.0 xf sound compared to f type

The f type 3.0 supercharged sounds pretty wicked compared to the xf 3.0. Is there an exhaust upgrade that will change the xf like Mina?

Mine sounds the same. Even the clunky sound when you shut it off. I'm guessing it's the supercharger. The first F type my local dealer got in was a 3.0 SC. I swore I'd never own one. Now I have a 14 XF 3.0 SC. I actually like the sound and the performance.

i know this says 380 hp so there must be a little difference but I wouldn't think the compression would be lower. I bet it is a super charger pulley thing. my xf 3.0 sounds nothing like this.

The only difference is the software, the torque figures are very close.

The F Type S is quicker because of a time tested drag strip technique: if you can't get more torque fit a lower rear end.

The exhaust sound of the base F Type is almost identical to the XF 3.0

The noisy one uses an active exhaust muffler, as does the Corvette for example and no you can't just fit one. It uses electrically controlled baffles to reduce the muffling under some conditions.

The F-Type has a 340hp v6. F-Type S has a 380hp v6 with active exhaust system. And no, it won't fit the XF. The F-Type's exhaust is a single unit, large muffler that is horizontally mounted at the rear of the car. I hope an aftermarket vendor can replicate that sound of the F-Type S model for the XF 3.0. Curious to hear a before and after of the MINA exhaust people are using for their v8's fitted to the v6 XF. I've heard v6 Mustangs fitted with dual performance exhaust designed for the v8, and it makes me want to throw up.

I'm guessing that going forward with the next XF, and maybe the XE Jaguar will offer the switchable exhaust as they do with the F-Type.

Could be... The spy shots of the XE show exhaust tips that are closer together. It makes sense from economy of scale to consolidate as many parts as possible across the family of cars.

Not usually made an option on a sedan. Does the XFR S have it? If not then I doubt the XE will.

The same effect, more or less, can be obtained by cutting two 2 inch round holes in the muffler can, but then the car will be noisy all the time.

The active exhaust isn't where the additional power comes from, by the time the exhaust gets to the muffler can it is flowing pretty smoothly already.

The F Type S just has a little more boost pressure cranked in at the higher rpm range, and it's mainly paper horsepower. The acceleration difference comes from the differential ratio. The diff's in the diff.

Yeah I'm aware that the active exhaust doesn't change the power. Anyway, just because it isn't available doesn't mean that they won't offer it going forward. They're supposed to be coming out with their "R-Sport" line, seems like a perfect place to offer such a thing.

I have seen the electric cut out that can be installed that would probably do the trick. I just think every once in a while it would be nice to be loud...I drove the f type v8 Saturday...Dear Lord that thing is a beast and the sound......
