Default Beep when locking the car

I would appreciate it if someone with a 2010 XF Portfolio, manufactured for sale in the U.S., could confirm that if you press the lock button on the remote twice, you will hear a beep sound from under the hood on the second button press. Also if you press the lock button on the remote and a door or trunk, etc is open, you will hear a double beep. The reason I am asking is because my XF, which is the model described above, does not do any of these and I am convinced it should. The dealer tells me that my car does not have this feature and frankly, based on what I have read on these posts, I don't believe them. This will give me a specific confirmation. Thanks in advance.

Mine does beep once if I press the lock button twice reasonably close together. But not all of the time! I've not experienced the double beep but the car will not lock unless all doors and the trunk lock.

I am in the same boat. 1 beep to lock and 2 beeps if anything is left open. But both Jagular and I have 2009's. I assume it would be the same for a 2010 but I am not 100%.

When the car beeps that sets the alarm. If the windows are down or someone is in the car (not the FOB because the car won't arm then) and you don't hear the beep the alarm wouldnt be set. Try it one time. Lower the windows, double click the button to hear the beep (or lights flash?) and then open the door from the inside. The alarm should sound and if not then maybe the alarm isn't working? All Jaguar models should come with alarms but they can be disabled if a car starter has been installed.

Thats my guess anyway.

2010 XFR. My car does not beep at all.

Or at least hardly ever. After owning it for 6 months, it did beep at me the other week when I locked it. Surprised me and I turned around and tried to get it to do it again but I could not...

Cheers,

- Will

This is configurable and will vary according to market. On my MY09 Norwegian spec it will give a beep when I double lock i.e. pressing twice in rapid succession (in which case a passenger left inside the car will not be able to get out so beware!). Likewise two beeps will ensue if I try to lock while a door, bonnet or boot is still open.

My 2010 XFR beeps as follows. I lock the door by pushing any door handle button ans the second time i push it then it will beep. And the two beeps happens if I try to lock it and the key is out of range or inside the car. any other time it does not beep. The horn that beeps sounds so cheap and lame as well.

Thanks to everyone for your input. This gave me the confidence to push my dealer to look harder. Guess what? They discovered I had a sounder and it had a short, thus it was not working. They replaced it with a new one and now I have my beeps. It's really a shame I had to push them to do what they should have done on their own.

The Jaguar horn is polite and sophisticated....as are the people who build them.

In the UK a friendly toot ( or hoot, as from a hooter) is the most common use of the horn. Otherwise it is considered very impolite to sound the horn except as a warning in a genuine emergency. Totally different than France or Italy....
