I'm in a similar to the post above by MD78. On my 09 XF the dash started to let go, only slightly, near the defrost vent (~50k miles on the Certified Extended warranty). I only drive my XF in the summer. It's garaged every night in the summer and all winter. It doesn't sit in the sun very often. I have tried to keep the dash out of direct sunlight because I knew about the issue. I have put a coat a mequiars leather cleaner/protectant on it almost weekly since I bought it. It doesn't seem like that has helped or made it worse.

There are many other posts about this issue. Maybe these should be compiled and posted at the top of the forum. Here are a few threads:

I almost always put the windshield visor up to be proactive about this dash bulge issue

Same problem, 09 XF SC with 55k in Ohio. Dash startde to bubble a few weeks ago in various places, but started close to the center speaker. I just called Jag USA and they opened a claim and after a couple days they got back to me and said they would cover $1500 of the $3400 job.

Thanks but no thanks.

I'm taking it to the Better Business Bureau to see if I get anywhere going that route.

Would tinting the windshield help? I just bought my car and I'm trying to avoid this by all means necessary. I ordered the sunshade from the dealership.

Yes. Do it yourself.

Here is a how to on removing the dash:

The video shows someone installing a replacement dash which you wouldn't be doing so you don't have to swap over parts from one dash to another.

Pull the dash and bring it to a upholstery shop so they can re-apply the leather. Another person on the forums said it cost him $100 to fix at an upholstery shop.

I am sure that $100 only included re-gluing the existing material. If you have to have the material replaced, I would expect it to cost closer to $1000 for the same quality leather (and hopefully better glue).

If your Jag is out of warranty and you dont want to hassle with trying to take the dash out yourself and taking it to the upholstery shop, I recommend calling Jaguar USA Corporate and opening up a claim. The process takes about a week for them to make a decision. My car was a little under a year and 8k out of warranty.

My local Jag dealer quoted me $3600 (with tax) for the repair and Jaguar Corporate said they would cover $1500. I also asked if I could waive the warranty on the new dash and if they would cover the entire cost and they said no.

I also asked if I could have the old dash back (so I could take it and get it fixed and possibly resell) and they said no.

So I was basically out of options... I ended up calling around to the 3-4 other Jaguar dealerships in Ohio and one near Cleveland said they could do it for $2900 + tax. I called my local dealer back and told them if they couldn't match that price I would drive the 2.5 hours to Cleveland and get it done there... Luckily they wanted to keep me as a customer (even though I didnt buy my Jag through them) and they decided to match the price. It took about 2 weeks for them to get the new dash and I just dropped my car off yesterday for the install... They ended up only charging $2900 including tax so I will have to cover $1400 out of pocket... Still not the end result I was looking for but I am going to have a brand new dash without the hassle and possible future defect of taking it to a upholstery shop.

Hope this helps...

That's correct. The leather has never been the issue so it doesn't need to be replaced. The issue is the glue so re-gluing the leather shouldn't be a problem.

My 2010 XFR dash is beyond warped. It has completely come apart next to the window and speaker. How much is the new dash, and where can I get one?

I just added a post under XF bubbling leather on dashboard which explains the whole problem .It can be fixed by removing dash top then peeling back leather and re gluing . The leather is then stapled around the speaker opening and the leading edge of the dash near the windscreen vents which prevents the leather shrinking and pulling the adhesive backing off the dash . Look up my post and look at the You Tube video titled XF Jaguar dashboard leather bubbling and you will see precisely how to fix the problem . David T

Can you post a picture of the damage?

I have never seen a dash that came all the way apart but it sounds like they can?

Default $3700 for dealer replacement leather dash

My 2010 started getting the bubbling effect 18 months ago, and in the past 2 months, the leather completely pulled back from the middle speaker and to the right and left of the speaker near the windshield.

I called the dealer and was quoted $3700, which is close to what others reported.

I watched the video on replacing it and it looks very easy. I think glue plus possible staples would be needed to keep it from happening again.

The other idea I have is to take the leather off and put down alcantara material instead from an upholstery shop. Much better at cold/heat and the custom look is very nice.

Is this covered under CPO extended warranty? I have 6 years 100K miles.

Not covered under CPO warranty as it's considered trim, which CPO doesn't cover. Original manufacturers warranty does cover it and I got mine replaced immediately after purchasing the car once I read about it on the forum.

Default Dash Buldge

I just had the same problem with my 2011 Jag XF Premium. I am in California. This also happened to another family member's 2010 XF. I took it in, and it was covered under warranty, however there is a problem. The dealership states that the new replacement dashes now come with a foam piece which butts up against the window. Problem is when Jag made these, the foam on the ends show and looks HORRIBLE. It also shows part of the windshield black/see through holes on one side but not the other. It looks like crap. I have complained about this several times and am awaiting to find out what is going to be done. This is NOT what I expect from a Jaguar and it is certainly not how it looked before I brought it in. Jaguar needs to come look at my car or find an alternative to fix this back to the original condition. Black foam should not be showing.

Anyone else recently have this issue, please let me know!

Yes….just tuck it in or down between the window and the dash…with a blade or knife.

Nvm this post. I didn't realize there were two dash threads. I moved it here instead.

Default Dashboard cover bulges

I have bulges on my 2009 XF Dash. Believe metal surface beneath covering expands and contracts. Bulges increase in size when cold (metal contracts but covering material stays same) bulges decrease when hot (metal expands but covering material stays same). So how need to get adhesive into bulge areas, perhaps "inject" through covering material seams?

The reason is bad glue. Take it to an upholstery shop and have them remove it and reglue. I believe Blackcoog had this done.
