Default DVD(SatNav) change to DVD player

While I was on the thinking about my XF (currently at the shop getting hail dings popped out) I was toying around with the idea of changing up the Infotainment. Here is what I am thinking. The TFT display is already color (granted, not the greatest resolution), if I added a standalone DVD player and connected it through the trunk, would it play DVD's on my display? If anyone has heard of anything like this, let me know. I am taking it to the stereo installer when i get it back to see what they can do.

On the Land Rover side of the family you need a GVIF unit to handle an external video source. Looks like the same for Jaguar

GVIF car video interface for Lexus, Toyota, Land Rover, Cadillac, Jaguar

I'm not sure it's worth it ;-)

I think someone on here posted about getting video playback through the infotainment system. I think it was a pretty involved exercise but was feasible. Search back - maybe 6-9 months ago?

I like this solution, but I don't like the remote control fob. I want to use the touchscreen for control. I know I have seen it on here somewhere..just can't remember where!!

So you have the pre facelift XF, with DVD Navigation System in trunk. You have two ways:
- install GVIF module and standalone DVD player

- install head unit IAM2.1 level 3 (for this mod you'll need to solve wiring, reprogram CCF file), activate Video playback from USB and if you need activate Video In Motion.

Thank you @08292!

Any intel on activating video in motion in the post-facelift XF. I am exploring possible options in my 2012 XF.

Thanks in advance!

For activation Video In Motion should be SDD and OBD cable, TeamViewer and Internet connection.

Thanks again @08292,

With that said, I have no idea what those parts are, and what to do once obtained...I am looking on Google for the info, but I am clueless as to the procedures once these pieces are obtained. From looking at it, I would guess that some electronic "update" would be taking place. Thanks again.
