My brother bought a set of illuminated tread plates for my XF for my birthday. Unfortunately they are the wrong trim color. He got them online a while ago so we can't return or exchange them. I went to the dealer and the parts guy wasn't willing to exchange them for a charcoal set. They are brand new wrapped up in a jaguar box and have never been touched. The parts guy said they are special order items so he'd have to send them back and he'd end up losing out. BS.

Is anyone looking for a set of Oyster Illuminated plates for a bit under retail? They are brand new in box. The wiring and install instructions are in there as well. I can get pictures of them with my screen name/date on a piece of paper next to them. Retail is $550. Say $460 shipped with priority 2-3 day mail? That's cheaper than you can get them anywhere. Drop me a PM if your interested.

I thought about trying to pop the trim off of the old plates and swapping them over but I'll try selling them first. Painting trim pieces as far as I know is a bad idea because it will chip later on and look horrible so that's out. The dark gray color isn't too far off but I think it will look odd if I installed them as is.

 

I might be interested if I buy this silver xf I'm looking at.

Did you ever install your sill plates? Like them?

 

I have the sill plates in mine and love them. Classy and noticeable at night time. The definitely attract the eye in the evening. I would recommend.

Hmm all good questions. No I bought the car with them already installed. They only illuminate when the doors are open and really only noticeable in the evening. They may illuminate all the time but not that noticeable during the day. And as far as LED I have no idea. They illuminate the same as the blue under the door handle...my guess is LED but not to sure. Hope that helps.

 

I love these plates, has anyone found a place where one car order them for a somewhat more reasonable price?

I also added the lit tread plates. I'd really like them to stay on all the time at night for mood lighting. Any suggestions? I know there has to be wires running to the lit rear door window controls just have no way to figure out what color it is.
