Default Possible new '11 SC owner

Well, as I pointed out in my other thread, I've gone from looking at a CPO '09 Premium to a new '11 SC. I think the dealer wants to move it off the lot since the '12's are out and has given me a price that sounds pretty good.

Before I pull the trigger, does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations/comments about the '11 SC vs the '11 Premium?

Any other comments about the '11 SC in general?

The premium with sport pack has great performance, but looks better. The front bumper has a great look. And its not like 385bhp doesn't offer good enough performance! It is also reasonably good on fuel.

If you are appreciative of HP then the SC is the best value in my opinion. 470 HP and a number of other features (at least there were in the 10's) without the R price.

Yes, I am (the HP). That was one of the things that made me decide I didn't want the '09 Premium. As you said, you get all the other little bells and whistles along with that package. When you add in the 5 yr/no maintenance cost warranty and the 0%/60 mo. financing it makes it an even sweeter deal.

I think the toughest part for us has been jumping from the $41K U.S. price for the '09 to the $63.5K for the '11. We've never spent that much on a car before so it's a bit of a foreign thought for us.

$41K for an '09 seems too much.

Does it come with all the bells including an extended warranty?

Yes, that was for a CPO '09 Premium with 17k miles. It's a real cream puff black on black. We would've probably bought that one if I hadn't decided I needed "more power!"

Also, $63.5K for a new '11 SC seems to be about the best price we can hope for around central Oklahoma. There aren't that many around (especially in black/black) and they're all priced at $64k or more.

Wheel and deal on the S/C, hackman. $63.5K is a good price for current model year car, not the one that is being replaced. I'm sure there is at least 3 additional grand to be had there. When we were shopping for a 2011 XF 5.0 we managed to beat the price down from $57.5K to $51.5K and that was before 2012s were announced!

Also, yes, absolutely go for the S/C! 5.0L is awesome, but I can only imagine how much awesome-er the 470-hp XF has to be...0-60 in 4.3s and 1/4mi in 12.7s is Corvette performance, really!

Also, $41K for 09 is entirely waaaaaay too much, so good thing you didn't go for it!

Thanks for the feedback, Saahov. Negotiations are tougher here in Oklahoma. It's good in that the economy is pretty good here due to the oil business. The bad part is that it's tougher to get them to come down since the market's not soft like there in CA.

hackman - there is a gray 09 XF-SC in Springfield, MO that has been reduced to $37,900 with 25,000 miles. I think the seller has had it for a bit and there may be more to be saved on the price. Let me know if you want more details. And I do not have any relationship with the dealer. I found the car a few weeks ago when I was shopping for an XF. If money wasn't an issue I too would have gone for a newer model. But I set my budget and tried to stick with it.

Thanks, svahle. I appreciate the head's up.

We had decided to go with a new vehicle. One of my wife's primary concerns was getting one with as long a warranty as possible. This is what made us consider looking at new '11's since they have the 5-year everything-covered warranty. I like the '11 SC's power and we both like the color (black/black). So, I think we're pretty well settled on this vehicle. In fact, we'll be going down to pick it up here in a couple hours!

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. I look forward to joining the club!

I paid $46.5 for my 10 SC with 23k on it. Thought I did pretty well.

Agreed. Good price.

I've seen a couple of them (2010 S/C) in Orange county for around $50-$52K with low, low miles (under 6000mi)

If that price is OK for you then you are getting a lot in many ways. i also liked the fact the '11s have full wear and tear covg for 5 yrs.

I think the biggest thing I'd like with the '11 SC or any SC is the adaptive suspension as well as the added HP.

Biggest downside is it has the same crappy seats as the Prem. Absolutely no side bolstering which makes it tough to throw the car around corners like you'd like to with a SC. Honestly, our Honda Odyssey has better seats. You have to buy the XFR to have the proper seats that even have adjustable side bolsters. These are the kind of things that are easy to overlook on a test drive

Ahem...you do know you can actually retrofit XFR seats if it bothers you that much, right?

The junk yard would be your best bet for a reasonable price. I've seen $2500 per seat.
