Default Trickle charger

Hi extended Jag family, I read a recent post on properly jump starting a Jag and it got me wondering if there is anything special that needs to do when hooking up a trickle charger. I just wanted to make sure before moving foreword, woke up to 11 inches of new snow this morning so it doesn't look like the cat will be back on the road for a while. Thank in advance for helping me answer what is probably a silly question

FWIW, couldn't figure out how to get a trickle charger to work on my previous '10 XFR with the usual method of plugging into the 12V socket. Not sure if it had something to do with the design of the electrical system. The only method that worked for me was directly clipping the leads onto the battery.

Russ,

Jaguar supply a trickle charger but you can obtain exactly the same type for much less elsewhere. The Jaguar one is a rebadged CTEK.

Regardless of which charger you get, the Jaguar accessory leaflet shows the recommended way of hooking it up.

The 12V socket is not live when the ignition is off and the vehicle in 'sleep' mode.

Mmm. Looks like a bit of a hassle compared to the typical plug and play.

I bought a trickle charger at Autozone for $39. Attached it to the battery in the trunk and it works great! I'm not the most mechanical person and it only took me 10 minutes. Worth every penny. BTW, saw the same one at Walmart today for $5 less. Good luck

Make sure that what you've bought is a battery tender and not a trickle charger. There's a difference.

Default Trickle charger

Thanks everyone for the input, I guess I should have clarified earlier that it was a battery tender that I have. It sounds like I will be ok with just hooking it up directly to the battery.

Mickey,
You are right. It was a tender I bought, not a trickle charger. Great for the winters.
