XF 250 engine shakes violently at idle
I just got my spark plugs changed since I am just over 100k miles. Prior to that, I notice a violent shake once in a while when I am idle, parked in my garage. I thought it might be the spark plugs so got that changed 2 days ago.
i just now felt the violent shake again while idling in my garage. This one is hard to Troubleshoot since it doesn’t always happen.
can someone help me troubleshoot this? Any idea what it can be?

The best next step is to get a diagnostic scanner (with the Jaguar XF software) attached to the car to check for codes. It sounds like a cylinder is shutting down and causing the shake at idle.
A spark plug problem wouldn't be intermittent, so it was time to change them, but wasn't the problem.

It may be an air leak (*) so watch the fuel trims before, during and after the shake
(*) or indeed any of several other things e.g. bad connector interrupting a sensor value, failing O2 sensor, part-blocked exhaust,

Air leak? Could this be related to the center air intake tube under my hood that is split open? I am using tape to hold it together right now, hoping air won't escape or go in.
Agreed.
Additional unmetered air is coming in after the MAF sensors and not being monitored, odds on to be the cause of your rough idle.
The car will run with the MAF sensors unplugged or removed (been there done that) but it will idle very rough.

been driving it a few months like this now. Is there any long term issues?

hm...That doesn't look like it will fit my car though but I'll look. Thanks all.
Are the parts here reliable?
