Thumbs up Ceramic pads for 2012 XJ NA - member expereince

Have any members used ceramic pads on the front axle and what experiences are out there. Really looking to switch to ceramics and cut down on brake dust. Would welcome brand/part# information and any sources to buy.

hafren, I have installed ceramics on the rear of my car and have been happy with them. I have not done the fronts yet as they have not worn down enough for me to want to change them. Granted, I am thinking if I do replace the fronts, then I may upgrade to a dimpled and/or slotted rotor setup on all 4 tires at that time. I don't recall what brand I put on the rears.

I am running Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads all around. They're quiet and very low dust, but do sacrifice some bite when compared to stock pads. I'm used to it now, but remember having to adjust my driving to them when first installed.

I've found Centric ceramics 105.12400 but some sites say its not suitable for the XJ Like your car mine is not supercharged so I want to be sure I'm getting the right pads. Any chance you have a record of the Centric #

BTW I am already running Centric 105.10950 on the rear.

I put Power Stop ceramics on my old XFS and they were great, noise free, almost zero dust and good progressive brake feel. I suspect your XJ has the same brakes, 355 mm front and 326 mm rear, so if you can't get the Posi-Quiets in the right sizes then maybe consider them.

While I use OEM pads as they stop better than the experience I had on my 2001 XJR loss of real stopping with ceramics. You might see if you have the larger 380mm rotors this # Centric 104.12400 Front Brake Pad

Note that Centric don't make ceramic pads for the 380 mm front brakes, they are semi-metallic despite being advertised by some sellers as ceramic. They are not bad pads, just nowhere near as low dust as true ceramic.

Default Porterfield R4S pads

I should have these in my hands next Wednesday. I'll update here with my review. I have Black wheels on a supercharged XJ and the dust is too much.
The F-Type guys are running them and they seem to like them so why not try them on the XJ.

Yep, I put them on my F-Type a few weeks ago, very happy with them so far.
Very little dust and what there is wipes off easily.

Stopping power is just as good as the OEM pads if not a little better.
The main difference is the initial bite, the Porterfield pads are much softer for the first couple of centimetres of pedal travel and are much more progressive than the OEM pads without the on/off switch feel in stop/go traffic which can make it difficult to drive smoothly.
Also on all three Jags I have had the OEM pads caused the brakes to "graunch" a lot just as you come to a stop, doing a three point turn was rough and noisy, no such problem with the Porterfield pads. A tiny graunch still just as you come to a stop but this goes away once you get the brakes hot.

This is exactly my experience on the XJL Supercharged. They were easy to change out and I've had them on for about a month. I had half pad life on my OEM but I couldn't take the cleaning any longer.

Just ordered them front and rear!
I used Akebono ceramics on my old 2005 STR. Lets see how these Kevlar ones work?
Certainly a ton of brake dust from the factory pads.
