Anyone ever used this service? I'd like to get by Left Bank cleaned as Cylinder 1 injector is acting up and throwing codes and misfires. I already tried a valvoline fuel system cleaning service at a local shop, and it didn't work.

Do I need to buy any other parts for this if I remove the entire bank of injectors (besides the slide hammer)?

No but I have been interested in that. So far the DI injectors are just replaced rather than serviced so it's hard to say?
For the cost of the injector I think it would be worthwhile to at least try it before replacing the injectors.

The downside is your car is down while you send them out and wait for them to come back.

Replace the injectors and spark plugs or the misfires are going to ruin the catalytic converter for that bank.

Cylinders are numbered 1, 3, 5 on Bank1 and 2,4,6 on Bank2. If the first cylinder on the LH bank (Bank2) is showing misfires, that is cylinder 2. What DTCs are stored in the system?

In addition to the slide hammer, it's also wise to obtain the seal installation and resizing tools, which can be purchased together.

Codes are cylinder 1 injector and cylinder 1 misfire.

Injector RX will replace the teflon seal for me at $10 per injector. So I guess I would just need to find the clips and O rings? Looks like O rings are part BOS-2700034034

 

Also, I am using this thread as my guide, but considering having the injectors cleaned rather than replaced, as I do not use my XJ as a daily driver.

Have you tried a can of BG K44 cleaner in your gas tank. It has worked for me many years and I have nearly 113k on my SuperSport.

 

I did BG cleaner on my last 2 oil changes, plus I did the Valvoline fuel cleaning service when this first started happening. It didn't matter- still getting Cylinder 1 injector errors so next step would be to get that bank cleaned or replaced.

 

Didnt this change through the years of the X351. All of the newer engines are 1, 2, 3 RH and 4, 5, 6 LH.

 

ISO cylinder numbering system is Bank1 1, 3, 5 and Bank2 2, 4, 6.
