I have just got hold of a 2011 low mileage Jaguar XJ Portfolio. What’s concerning me is the automatic folding door mirrors function as where I live it can be damn cold with considerable ice featuring ! If the mirrors are frozen when I unlock the car, there’s a good chance the mirrors unfolding against the ice will damage the motors, mechanisms, the works !! I’ve went through the steering wheel functions but can’t find a way to disable the folding feature. Can this be done by me or is it a dealer job ? Thanks folks.

On my XK this feature can be selected or disabled in the touchscreen but the Owner's Handbook for your XJ states 'The mirrors can be configured to automatically fold when the vehicle is locked and unfold when unlocked. This feature can be enabled or disabled by your Dealer/Authorised Repairer.' Members with this model may know something more convenient!

Hello Davie385,

If i remember right disable/enable folding mirrors by holding both buttons down, where you choose what side of mirror you adjust. (i turn folding option off as well for the winter - the mechnism are made so that it will not broke when iced, but it is innoying to jump up and unfold them by hand)
