I've seen some people talking about this but have not seen any solutions. My XJ stopped propelling me down the highway when it reached 128 MPH. Is there any way of turning off this limiter?

Welcome to the forum Sunnyvaleslim. I see you've been a member for a while, but as this is your first post, welcome anyway.

The speed limiter on other models can usually be circumvented by selecting Sport mode or S with the rotary shifter, and using 4th or 5th gear, rather than 6th.

Thank you Cambo. I met someone at the golf course today who mentioned that same solution. I'm going to like this forum stuff.

I would love to hear what the top speed is on a XJ 5.0L naturally aspirated by selecting the Sport mode and 5th gear. Any "well educated" guesses?

Check the speed rating of your tires first!

My understanding is my naturally aspirated 5.0 L Jaguar XJL, if not speed limited from the factory, is capable of 178 MPH. I just don't know if one could achieve this in fifth gear. My Continental Extreme all season mud and snow tires are "Y" rated for 186 MPH speeds, although I wouldn't go that fast in either mud or snow.

My SuperSport would normally be limited to 155mph, but as I have the Speed Package and the limiter is increased to 174mph as the front and rear spoilers give it more stability at the higher speeds. I'm running Z rated Michelin Pilot Supersports as my Mataiva wheels are 9" and 10" widths so I can mount 265ZR35/20 and 295ZR30/20 tires. Those along with the XJR front anti roll bar have transformed the car into, what I feel, it a 4 door F-Type.

Just curious about the high speed capabilities of my stock 2011 naturally aspirated 5.0 L Jaguar XJL in fifth gear.

Hopefully if I have to outrun a potential natural disaster, or civil unrest, we will be in our 190 MPH capable Chevrolet Corvette with run-flat tires.
