Default Looked at a 2013 XJL today

I looked at a used 2013 XJL 5.0 NA - 20k miles.

In looking it over I noticed that the engine cowl said "supercharged", but the engine was a NA model. Also, it was advertised as a Portfolio, but the side chrome, did not say "Portfolio". Carfax didn't show any accidents.

I may just be the suspicious type, but it didn't seem to add up to me.

Is it being sold thru a dealership, or is this a personal sale? I'd advise that you ask the seller a few more questions to get some clarification to these questions.

Remember you can find some real good deals out there so you don't have to take the first opportunity. Not many people do what I did but my XJL was purchased as a result of seeing an ad on eBay. The car was in Florida and transported via closed auto trailer to Pennsylvania and was bought without a personal inspection but I did ask the seller several questions after seeing the pictures posted. I too did the carfax and everything came up clean. I'm quite satisfied w/ my purchase; have had it now for 13 months and no problems. When bought it only had 7300 miles, now I'm at 14,400 miles.

It was being sold through a used car dealership - CarMax - so, unfortunately, I can't get to the original owner.

Not sure how I got there, but my suspicion is that it was owned by a car dealer as a loaner, got in a wreck, and they fixed it themselves, rather than report it to insurance as an accident. That's why nothing shows on CarFax, while it has low miles, etc.

I'll keep looking.

James,

Good decision. Stay with the 2013-up models (8-speed transmission, Meridian Surround) and for peace of mind find one with a CPO warranty. I've had my CPO 2013 for a bit over 1 year with no problems except for the water pump, which was replaced under warranty. Be patient and you'll find the right one. Good luck!

FYI in 2013 the 5L NA engine was replaced in North America by the 3L V6. So no way this is a 'correct" car IMHO

I thought that 2013 was the last year when you could get the 8 cyl NA engine? From 2014 onwards they discontinued it.

My mistake as the LWB XJ Portfolio was still supplied with the 5L NA V8. The V6 was available on the SWB XJ.

Thanks mate for this. Sorry for the silly question, but I have to ask...what is the "MY" stand for? I see it referenced a lot. Cheers!

Best thing to do is check the VIN.
