Ordering the right Transmission kit 2013 XJL Portfolio
I have a 2013 Jaguar XJL Portfolio (3.0), and live in Canada.
The car I bought 2 years ago and now has 160k km on her, I suspect never had the transmission oil changed.
Regardsless, I want to do it, and not through the local dealer here in Toronto, as I have not won the lottery lately.
So I want to order a kit, and have the fluid changed locally with a garage I trust who has worked on all my cars in the last deacde, from TVR's to Cadillacs.
This is the kit I have found online is;
https://www.blauparts.com/jaguar-xj-...-19-8-spd.html
But it is out of stock, can someone help me source a quality kit I can order in its steed. I am going away Dec 13th, and was hoping to leave th ecar for the week I am away to get the fluid chnaged and other maintainence jobs done at th esame time.
Help is greatly appreciated.

I have done oil change for my XJ transmission twise.
Both time i bought OEM oil service kit from ZF. (manufacturer of the transmission)
Kit includes, oils, pan with filter, new screws for pan and exelent instruction book for the job.
There are own kits for 6-speed and 8-speed models. (Same transmission are used in many vehicles)
6-speed kit part numbers:
8-speed kit part numbers:
Price difference of original ZF kit and 3rd party are so low that i would not to use anything else. Specially the oils matter, since the wet clutch pad material work only correctly with the oils made for.

I have used and recommend The CTSC. It's in the US so not sure if you want to use them or not?
All they handle is ZF parts and are true experts on the ZF 6 and 8 speed transmissions.
I have used them multiple times and have always been happy. They have the kits your looking for too.

Thx, looks like they only have a kit for the 6 Speed, I have an 8 Speed, unless the Jag kit is the same as the BMW one?
They also look liek they come with 6 liters wheras other kits have 7.

When I do it, I drain the pan, replace the pan, fill up the pan with fluid as he did, remove the line to the transmission cooler and route it to an empty milk jug, run the engine until 2 qts of dirty fluid fills the jug, stop the engine, fill with 2 qts, repeat until the oil coming out is clean, then top off while the transmission is warm. That way I completely bleed out the old transmission fluid since it can't get back to the pan. No scan tool necessary as an IR thermometer does the job. The temp range is pretty broad, as he stated.
Trending Topics
i did my tranny fluid change at 60,000kms, there are 3 different sized rubber tubes that connect the to the lower tranny plate directly above the pan, they MUST be replaced, i looked all over just as the OP did from various suppliers, i ended up buying a genuine ZF pan from ebay, the same seller sold the genuine 3 rubber tube valve body seals as well,, my ZF pan came with the genuine ZF bolts and gasket as well just ensure you are getting a genuine pan, there are plenty that are non gen but gen is not that much more for the peace of mind, it just took some time to freight from europe.
As far as the oil, ZF 6 in my case, everywhere i looked was a total rip off for only 6-8 literes in single litre containers and the freight was a killer, i ended up going to the ZF State Dealer for the ZF 6 fluid, note* the dealers usually run on business accounts only, fortunately my state dealer was more than happy to sell me whatever i needed and that saved me huge $$$$, it was so cheap i purchased a 25 litre drum, delivered was under 500Aud. Not cheap stuff but i needed plenty as i completely flushed my tranny and oil cooler, my original oil was in pretty good nick, no nasty surprises on the magnet in the pan either, refilled by temperature as per ZF manual to the fill hole level. Even after complete flush of the cooler and tranny/converter i still have around 8 litres left.
There is a plethora of info on the ZF boxes and servicing even full rebuilds on YT and various othe www sources, research enough and you easily can filter the nonsense from the real facts, those 3 rubber tube seals is something i never knew about until i did due diligence in research and research is fun, costs nothing and gives you a great understanding of your components.
Check out your state dealer if you have one, you may be pleasently surprised.
I guess costly for a maintenace item but easily worth it, the mechanic i used was happy to work with me as its a two man job to do the tranny flush, the same day i did the VAP tune and charger crank pulley belt and sport cats,
Best of luck, very rewarding project, and against the current i will say STAY AWAY FROM JAGUAR DEALERS on this one, The gearbox is manufactured by ZF, follow their instruction and ZF specialists, there is also some good info on either BMW or Merc i forget which but that was a very good source for me as well as they use the same gearboxes so dont be scared to crosscheck and expand your research from those sources, also research what you will need to do AFTER your oil change/flush as your transmission needs to relearn its shift parameters with new fluid installed, so research that too and ensure that is completed.
ENJOY!!!!

Note: Lightspeed have 6-speed version, you have 8-speed. Its not a same transmission.
I add an "biggest auto part canada" words on google search and come up to this:
https://www.glassdoor.ca/Explore/top....54,60_IN3.htm
Do you regonizse any in your area?
The same ZF 8HP transmission are used on thousands of BMW:s, Dodges, Chryslers, RAM:s, Audis, Jeeps, right on your home street... the list go on and on.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZF_8HP_transmission
So i bet your local car part store have ZF 8HP pan and oil kits on shelf. (our local one have, and Hey: i am living in small market area in the edge of civilisation)

As i said get in touch with your Canada importer: Service ZF Transmissions Ltd. if you have not done so or the closest ZF agent to you.
They will be able to help you with the fluid, parts may be reasonable through them too if you have not checked, i advocate this as i was shocked when i ran my quotes comparison.
My Western Australian ZF agent is where i purchased my 20 or 25 litre drum of ZF6 lifeguard, too lazy to go and check the volume, its xmas day and i just finished work.
Wish i could help more there is a new unused, Genuine ZF 6hp26 pan here in Australia for $60 aud bargain but useless to you.but surely through searching you must be able to find like in Canada if you are on a strict budget.
Regarding the seal kits you need to find a kit for the ZF8hp and your vehicle being 2013 you would have the 1st gen gearbox of which there are several variants so you need to find out exactly which one, 1st gen covers, 8Hp30/l, 8HP45, 8HP55, 8HP65, 8HP70 and 8HP90, what variant was used for the diesel you will need to find out, the Gen 2 variants were not released until 2014 but research is a must. Not sure of the specifics on the Gen 1, although some parts may be interchangable between transmission variants DO NOT PURCHASE until you know exactly what model transmission you have.
Full mechatronic and plate seal kits are widely availabe even genuine ones from ebay are fairly inexpensive at under 100$aud.
eg:https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/294352529160 but again that is for ZF6hp26 but is an example of the genuine parts kits for a now common and widely used box.replaced by the ZF8 and now the ZF9
No point in me referring the W.A. dealer for ZF, the dangerous goods import duty and freight to Canada would be massively cost prohibitive when you have a local importer.
Play safe over the holiday season, in your case stay warm, its scorching down under, feel sorry for the northern hemisphere, i cant live without the sun.
