Default Adding 2nd transponder - "this procedure requires 2 keys"

I got my car with one key/remote only, the regular type, i.e. I never had the valet-one either.
So now I am trying to add another key, using SDD.

I selected the third option here:

("Security - Program new transponders")

...on maybe like the third screen I got a message saying that this procedure requires 2 keys.
Obviously I have 2 keys ready (1 paired, 1 yet to be paired), but I guess that's way too obvious, so that's probably not what the message is saying...
Does that mean I need 2 already-paired keys?

And if so, is there another way to create a friend for my lonely Jaguar key?

it is saying what you think is obvious, you need to program a minimum of 2 keys during the operation.

earlier jags that didn’t use PATS allowed for only 1 key to be programmed if you wanted to.

Sooo, would you say in my situation the #3 is actually the way to go?

With only one key I have had to delete ALL the existing keys first. Then add the 2 new keys back in one at a time. Now there is a time limit in SDD to do this so get both keys out and on the center console so you will be ready. Also put a piece of tape on one key so you know which one is 1 and which one is 2.

Would you remember which routine you went with? Was it #1 or #3?

have a minimum of 2 keys present and program them. the additional and new transponder routines are identical.

this isn’t rocket science

Of course, but it is not the complexity of the task that worries me - it is the poor quality of the software.
In this particular example I have very little confidence in the UX to prevent me from erasing the keys and on the next screen telling me the procedure can not be completed for whatever reason.
I don't want to "just wing it" and end up with 0 functional keys.

Cheers
