Talking ball joints

might be a dumb question - but here go's.
are the ball joints in a 2005 xk8 or xjr the same as a 2005 xjr v-8 super charged?
wanting to change upper ball joints with out doing whole control arm. I do know that thay were made by ford and a lot of the 2000 Lincoln ls parts fit the jxr.
thanks for your help, and I got a lot from here so far. learned a lot to!!

The ball joints can't be purchased separately. You have to buy the control arm.

I assume you have the 05 XJR? If so, 05 Lincoln LS is the same part and cheaper.

thanks, if the 05 is the same then I can replace the ball joints, in fact I have an extra set. there 14 mm if I remember and iv done a few of them. there just pressed in.
so for those that didn't know if the 05 xjr is the same as the ls then they are the same as the x300 and super 8 and can be replaced with out buying the control arm and as long as your doing them id replace the bushings to. you can rebuild the whole thing for around 36.00 for ball joint and around 28.00 for all the bushings.... a whole cheaper than a new control arm and its not but around an hour job from pulling rebuilding to replacing and another 15 min for a poor mans alignment.

Thanks. To be clear, I was saying that the 05 Lincoln LS upper control arm will fit the 05 XKR. I have no knowledge of the ball joint interchangeability with older model Jaguars. Hope it works.

The part number quoted is for previous cars to the X350, which are the previous steel-bodied XJ saloon, and the steel-bodied XK sports cars that overlapped the X350. The aluminium XK came out in 2006, three years after the X350 and has the same suspension arms.

Now, of course, this ball joint may well fit into the later wishbones, but is not sold as such, apart from this eBay listing.

Here is what SNG Barratt have listed for this part. Have a look at the model list.

Not a name I've heard, but I do know about the trick of putting a couple of magazines under the front wheels if you want to swivel them about whilst checking. It works like a dream too.

What I want to see if photos of fitting that ball joint you mentioned, onto the wishbone. (X350, S-type, XK from 2006, and XF up to 2015). So far there is no separate supply we are aware of, but if it matches the part that came off, then it must be correct.

Try welshent.com (Welsh Enterprises). They have lots of Jag Factory & OEM parts lots cheaper than the Dealers.
I got my upper control arms from them around $400.
The upper control arm has the integal ball joint.

Also try guadinjaguarparts.com
