Question CTEK Battery Tenders

With winter at the doorstep and me living in the Midwest, I'm preparing my car for winter storage. I know there have been quite a few threads on this already but I can't seem to find one specifically pertaining to the X350.

So question is, has anyone had success using the CTEK Multi US 7002 for an X350? Or is there a different model you may recommend? I'd like to get the CTEK so I can leave the battery in the car and not have to worry about it.

Thanks!

I've heard good things about battery Tender. Also for cold weather, CTEK 4.3 Polar. Not familiar with the particular model you mention though.

Any C-TEK would work fine. I use one in my 04 XJ - buy the indicator panel you can directly wire to the battery and then plug the C-TEK into. It's about $20 but well worth it. It will also show you battery status via green, yellow or red light.

I have the same set up on my x350 and the XJL, also using the indicator connector piece with the led's on.

I use the Xciter 5-Stage with good results.

On a related note, I have an Audi where the battery is under the rear seat, so the there are "jumping posts" in the engine compartment for jumps and battery charging. Does anyone know if there a place under the hood of an X350 where I could install the ring leads of my battery maintainer? A distribution block perhaps? I would prefer to have it under the hood rather than running it into the trunk.

Just get yourself a switch mode power supply and set it to 12.2 volts

This is the one I have
240 Watt 12V 18A Switchmode Power Supply - Jaycar Electronics biut you only need a small one to maintain the battery

Something like this one 12VDC 40 Watt Switchmode Power Supply - Jaycar Electronics or even smaller

The key is to have a regulated 12.2 volts output

Cheers

Thank you all for the great info! This will certainly help me make the right purchase, and from what I can tell that PSU would be ideal for using SDD anyhow so I think I may go that route.

As I indicated I have the 240W power supply and I have it connected when I am using SDD and for many other things

You will only need the small one 30W or so and these are small enough to be installed behind the panel near the battery

You can wire it to the battery and install a power socket for easy charging when the car is store or using sdd. If you do that put a relay or switch on the output to disconnect the psu when not in use

Cheers
