difficult starting solved 2004 xj8
Changed out crank pos. sensor, (CPS). Jack up front, 27mm torx, disconnect wire, straightforward. I would now say that @ 100k US mileage, just change it? I would. It was lightly corroded, looks vulnerable to water, dirt, etc. Bonus: MPGS are up by 2. Performance is insane, and they made a blower version? I am now exceedingly delighted. Talking xj here, know what I mean? Quite a ride, cosmetics are due for care, will have some tea now.

Rockauto, I bought their last Beck Arnley part. Airtex Welles #5s1754 is available, will work. Point is, this part can go, causing trouble aplenty.

hard starting x350, 2004.2004 xj8 exhibits good cranking but occasionally very long cranking times. Low outside temps a partial factor. Land Rovers also can exhibit this problem, did not test sensor as it is underneath vehicle, once vehicle supported, one torx bolt (27) holds it. Now everytime car is cranked starts right up, warmup is stronger also. Very, very relieved, car now reliable, my wife can take it to the gym, shopping, etc., without fail. Seen these as low as $13 US, @ Rock Auto, cheap shipping rates.
had some unexpected starting trouble today (arrrg!) Will look it those grounds for sure.
