Default Spare Plug?

As I was preparing to put the radiator cover back on, I discovered a plug that I have no recollection of unplugging nor any pictures of it being unplugged. Could this be for a headlight washer if I had one? Or is it for something that I can't find? I was hoping that it went under the fuse box on the right & that it might fix the ACC issue. Then I thought that it might be for a fan motor or sopmething. Searching with the endoscope in the radius range of the wire yielded nothing. I think I explored the underside of the fuse box sufficiently and saw no unused receptacle.
It originaters from the same wire as does the large plug for the headlight assembly on the right side.

'In General...' there are ordinarily 'several' such 'for future use' / option connectors on JLR motorcars.

Each SHOULD have a dummy mating seal plugged into it to keep the contacts clean, dry, and protected from shorting to anything.

Presence of that protective 'filler' is your indication that it had NOT been connected.

One exception can be old/new thermostat housings on the 5.0l V8, wherein the later ones have added a temp sensor the older ones did not have. My - admittedly hazy - recollection is that one did NOT have a protective filler/seal plug.

OTOH the X350 didn't get the 5.0l V8, did it?

Hi Steve,
You could pull back the black cover on the wires and note the two color codes. That would narrow down your search. Could it be the plug that attaches to the airbox to open the extra air flap at WOT (wide open throttle) ?

Two things come to mind; my car was pre-wired for both Front Ultrasonic Parking Sensors, and Adaptive Cruise Module. The plug for the Adaptive Cruise terminates near the mounting location beside the Driver side fog light. The ultrasonic front parking sensors plug is behind front bumper (where the harness for the four sensors would plug in, I have a unused harness in a box).

Thanks, Guys. The plug is on the passenger side (U.S). The air box is wired & on the driver's side. There are 2 wires: 1 is orange with white stripe; the other is black & green & white striped. The length of wire from the feed is 17"; it originates near rhe wire to the headlights, I was not able to find any writing on the wires. The photos, I hope, will show where the wire is. Thanks & have a great week! Steve S.

Getting "park break fault". Could that be where this plug goes? If so, I haven't a clue where the receptacle is.

Thanks and best,

Steve S.

Hi Steve,

Big Koshka already replied to the park brake fault error in the other thread.

Could it be the plug for the temperature sensor that you had asked about in one of your threads when dismantling the car?

It was part of this thread:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...access-281433/

You asked "was ist das" on 06-25-2024.

Best regards,

Thomas

Thomas, you have a mind like a steel trap! Thank you.

Reconnected the shock tower & taking a little break. Will drive her around town without installing cabin filter, etc. Will unbutton the under the bumper cover to plug in the temp...

Gave her a really good bath. Will endeavor to polish her a bit, but first need some serious sailing & a few rounds of golf.

Have a great week!

Steve S.
