Default "ticking" noise on front left ?

My jag runs without any problems, but when I parked it today, I noticed a strange noise.
When moving my head close to the front left wheel, it sounds like a fast ticking clock.

As I opened the hood, the noise is no longer audible, as the other sounds of the engine are slightly louder.

Any ideas, what might be the source of this "ticking" ?

Could be anything, hard to know based on the description. Probably just your evap purge valve, which is completely normal.

Some more info would be helpful to narrow it down:
Assuming it's making the noise while parked and with the engine running running, but do confirm if it's there with the engine running or shut off? Does the ticking change with engine RPM?

"Ticking" occurs after driving below 30km/h and parking the car with engine still running.
I didn't check for a correlation with rpm yet.
I'll try to record the sound next time.

If the engine is running, its probably the compressor. Its in front of the left front wheel.

It's not the compressor. The sound is like a clock ticking.
I'm currently sick, so it'll take some time to do a recording, but I promise to do it

I'll bet a Coke you're hearing the evap purge valve. It's a light tick about 2x a second. It won't occur on a cold start, but only after the coolant has warmed up a bit. Will be interested to hear the sound when you get back to it

Time for an update:
Although I have that Coke right here, I drove 3 times, but the ticking noise didn't show up.
Maybe I didn't drive that fast or the environment was colder.

I'll try to catch that sound and keep that Coke ready for delivery.

With temperatures raising, my Jag managed to tick again.
This time I managed to do a recording by holding the microphone close to the front left wheel.

I have the same noise from my 2.7- I thought it might have been a belt or pulley- would be interested to see what responses you get as I have had to replace so many parts on my car since I bought it- Ive done less than 1000 miles in the 14 months I have owned it
