2004 XJ8 106,000 mi
I'm replacing the water pump, coolant bridge, thermostat, hoses,belt & tensioner
Is now the time to R&R the radiator or could I get another 50k mi out of it.
What do you guys do/recommend ?
Also, I'd like to get a slightly cooler thermostat will that cause a problem.
It now has a 88f (190°) I'd like to get a 180°

I think if you're going to address that much of the cooling system, you should go the extra step and replace the radiator and expansion tank for peace of mind.

 

The condition of the plastic parts is usually the deciding factor.
But as Kiznarsh posted, being pro active & replacing it now, has its merit's.

 

Change the radiator and don't change the spec of the factory thermostat
