Unhappy Windshield Wipers

My Windshield Wipers 5 inches above normal place hiden by bonnet.
So, when they are active, they would go down to start and would stop way high.
I've tried to adjust them to moving them down but they are still stopping too high.

is there some explanation why wipers are doing that and advice how to fix it?

Hi jagxjr,
Here is the picture from the manual for the correct wiper positions. Loosen the nut holding the wiper arm, and move the pivot end of the arm until it is free. There are no serrations, it is held by friction. Adjust the arm to the correct position and tighten the nut. The picture is for a RHD car, flip it for a LHD car.

Thanks Pete for your answer.
Wipers start acting like that from nowhere without changing standart sizes of blades.
Im not sure how to read and follow your diagram so I would have to ask mechanic.
I wonder if new set of wipers would solve my issue?

Hi jagxjr,
I have heard of wipers doing strange things if the earth points behind the headlights are corroded. I had an experience of my left headlight flickering badly. When I checked the earths, one had unscrewed itself a few turns. Tightening it (very carefully) solved that problem.
Are your wipers set to the Intermittent position on the stalk (one click down) and Auto on the stalk knob? If so, try turning them completely off and see if they start moving by themselves. There are a number of threads about this that may help. The diagram just shows how far up the screen the wipers should sit when they are switched off.

I've reading everything I can put my eye on and because there is so many how-tos
I'm getting more and more confused after next article of recommendation I read.
Most of them suggesting park switch inside motor is acting badly.

Funny you've mention headlights, mine have it own mind. One moment they on
next only left is on second later right is on, next second both low beams is off and
then both are on working..

Hi jagxjr. Your problem has nothing to do with park switch or ground points. In my opinion, for some reason, the link that drives the wiper mechanism has moved on the engine. This may happen if, for example: the nut on the engine has come loose, wipers frozen to the windshield have been activated, or force has been used to manually adjust the position of the wiper arm. As I remember, unscrewing the link from the engine is possible without dismantling the entire mechanism, perhaps it is enough to just unscrew the mechanism to gain some space. Once you have achieved this, turn on the wipers for a moment, then set the mechanism so that the arms are in the zero position and tighten the link.I don't know why I haven't been able to attach photos for some time, so I'm providing links.

Your wiper motor could be on its last leg, needing replaced.
Purchased, & installed a used one from a junk yard problem solved.
