The rack and pinion change should take somewhere between 60 and 90 minutes to do and it's quite simple. Use something like a turkey baster and siphon as much steering fluid out of your reservoir as possible. Get the front of the car up on jackstands high enough that you can work on it. You'll need to use a flare nut wrench on your two P/S lines connecting the rack. They'll also be an electrical connection that will have to be disconnected at some point. Disconnect both of your outer tie rod ends and also the thru bolt going to the steering column shaft. Then it's just a matter of removing the two mounts holding the rack to the frame. Make sure you take accurate measurements of the tie rod length since the outer tie rods ends will have to be removed and replaced onto your new rack. The more accurate the measurement (Making the new rack length the same as the old),the easier it will be for an alignment.
