Default 96 VDP removing rear headrests

I feel like an idiot that I can't figure this out, but there has to be a trick on this, right?

I can't find a button. The posts don't seem to move enough to squeeze them in, unless I'm just not trying hard enough.

What am I missing?

I had the whole seat out and still didn't manage to get the headrests out but in my opinion it's not possible with the seat inside the car, as they get too close to the window. Anyway, what do you want to take them out for, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, that makes me feel better in a weird way.

Funny you should ask.

The rear seat in my VDP is in excellent condition. The front seats, however, need a little bit of love. They're not cracked, just really worn in a couple of spots and what they really need is some dye. But I can't match the color off the shelf.

I trust my shoe guy pretty much implicitly and he's worked with seat leather before. He'll make me what I need, but I need to give him a sample to match the color. He suggested a headrest if they'll just pop out.

That way I could just leave it with him and go pick up the color later in the week.

Knowing that the headrests don't just pop out, I just need to find another option. Not a huge deal, I just want to get the color right.

if you take the whole rear seat out, the back rest has some excess leather hidden behind, roughly in the middle. And to take the seat out all you need is just philips screw driver and about 3 minutes

Just an update. FC, right you were, four screws later I pulled off the seat and was able to pull a small swatch of leather. Fantastic.

Thanks again.

Don't suppose there's enough back there to replace the side-bolster panel in the squab, is there? I first misread this one, not noting it was "rear" headrests...and was thinking, "Hope these guys get it sorted, I'm gonna need to get the headrest off in order to skin the driver's seat and take it for repair..." but looked in the manual, and apparently, to remove the pwr operated front ones, you just give a stiff yank. We'll see when i get to that...I have to peel both fronts to replace the htr blankets, but only need to separate the cover from one for panel replacement. (Don't NEED to, I guess, just would rather haul in the skin vice the whole seat)
